Brazil will train PLA soldiers in jungle combat and Colombia form Paraguayan troops in counterinsurgency

cE5XLZf.jpg

(Defensa.com) The Training Center Jungle Warfare (CIGS) Brazilian Army has announced it will train Chinese troops in combat in jungle, sending instructors to China to be performed on-site instruction. China requested the Brazilian assistance for this type of specialized training, but as confirmed by Col. CIGS, Alcimar Marques de Araújo Martins said in a statement, has asked China to send instructors to develop their own training program in jungle combat.

The CIGS was created in 1964 after a Brazilian officer took part in a similar course taught by US instructors in Panama. Since then the Brazilian center has trained more than 6,000 soldiers, including 500 foreign troops. There are several courses aimed at soldiers as lasting ten weeks or the official who is eight. Both participants are trained for combat in jungle survival techniques, orientation and navigation capabilities in the jungle or subsistence hunting.

At the same time it has been known that Colombia is training Paraguayan troops in counterinsurgency methods so that they can face the EPP (Paraguayan People's Army). This was revealed by the Colombian newspaper El Espectador reported that last year 160 Paraguayan soldiers, mostly belonging to special forces units were trained in Colombia. This training will be developed since 2008 and would aim to train Paraguayan troops so they can face the Marxist group EPP based on the experience of Colombia against the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). Both the Colombian government like Paraguay have reported that the EPP has in turn received training FARC

China's first Blue Army gives PLA some bitter lessons said:
China's first Blue Army of the PLA (People's Liberation Army), set up in 2012, is theformer armored division of the 65th Army under the Beijing Military Region. With the aimto toughening up the PLA troops by making soldiers practice as if they were fighting a realwar, the Blue Army plays the enemy and conducts confrontation drills with the PLA's "redarmy".

It is called "prairie wolf" due to its advanced tactics and fierce combat.

During the "Stride 2014 Zhurihe D" confrontation exercise, the PLA's "red army", fromseven military regions, learned some bitter lessons from their rivals. The "Blue Army" oran "opposing force" won six out of the seven battles, defeating six out of seven militaryregions with a winning rate exceeding 85 percentage. The "death" rate of the "red army"even reached 70 percent.

Compared to traditional armed forces, the Blue Army boasts information and a network.During the drills, they used strong electromagnetic interference and successfully cut offcommunication and command system of the "red army".

Besides, they carried out flexible tactics such as a surprise attack to hit the target instead oftraditional large-scale group battle.

Wen Yongjun, the commander of the "red army", said frankly that this kind of Blue Armyis a good opportunity for all the troops. Without tough rivals, the morale of troops cannotbe inspired and the capability cannot be tempered.

At the undergoing of "Stride 2015 Zhurihe E" drills, the Blue Army still maintains a highwinning percentage after the four drills.

But to build a more professional "Blue Army", it still has a long way to go.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Its a great example of the PLA's latest opfor training philosophy, whereby they are giving the Blue Army all sorts of advantages, and pretty much making life as hard and unfair as it is possible for the regular Red Army troops (while still giving the Red Army a chance, so its not totally hopeless for them).

The goal is to take them out of their comfort zone, and make them develop innovative tactics and strategies to counter the superior equipment, situational awareness and "luck" of the Blue Army.

That is in stark contrast to western opfor training, which seems far more geared towards simulating "realistic", but distinctly inferior (in equipment at least) opfor.

Basically, the Chinese always assume they will be facing a superior enemy, and their training is geared towards how to beat said superior enemy and/or how to wrestle the advantage from the enemy while at a significant technological disadvantage.

Western forces always assume they will always have, and keep the upper hand, so their training is more focused on how to make the best use of their equipment and resources to maximise results and minimise possible losses.

There are good reasons, grounded the reality, for why the two choose the focus and methods they do, but I favour the Chinese approach overall, because their training philosophy would maximise the chances of winning all kinds of conflicts, but it small scale skirmish, up to and including total war.

The western approach means they are going to be more efficient than the PLA are thumping hopelessly outmatched foes, in the kinds of overwhelmingly one-sided wars the west has become accustomed to fighting.

However, it leaves a big question mark over just how well western forces will be able to adapt and cope if they ever come up against an enemy who has weaponry and technology of a similar level, or even superior to themselves, with the numbers to match.

Totally OT, but that is the main reason why I think China will be able to punch way above its weight if Aliens ever invade. :p

'Dear leader' is probably the most powerful and whimstical person of Generation Y. :D

I think South Korean president had expressed her intention of attending the parade, so maybe China would not want Kim to spoil the good atmosphere by doing silly stuff like shelling islands or sinking corvettes at such a sensitive time.
