I really like the look of this beastie. The only thing I would suggest they add is a mounting point for a LMG/automatic grenade launcher on the front passenger side and maybe some smoke grenade dispensors.

Even on the up armoured version they couldn't add the bottom half of the door:Dit does look cool, but I'm worried that they are focusing more on aesthetics than the practical fuctions of the vehicle. But I guess that is how you get inexperienced politicians and procurement people to throw money at you.

Some old sand rails did that and still do.
Some are now starting to mount auto cannons to.
In the West these vehicles are often built off commercial quads Uts

It reminds me of the carts in Westworld.

Those are Can-Am Maverick X3s off the commercial market fitted with special "Twheels" a off road type of tire that doesn't have and innertube but reduces the top speed to 37MPH and are very heavy.

Any suggestion for the use of an opening in the lower part of the doors? Can't be just because it looks good?

it's derived from an off the shelf product. Chances are they're only beginning to use it or trial it as is

Reduced weight. The "door" is only meant to keep the passengers hands and feet inside the ride at all times.

OK... in this day and age perhaps the focus should be on how they are going to help him overcome any health issues and prevent this from happening to others in appreciation and honor of his contribution and sacrifice and others like him?

    minus 20 degrees Celsius

That's what I had yesterday. Wearing the right clothing is key. But also training to deal with extreme cold weather.

    35 kilograms

This is an issue in modern infantry world wide. But 77 pounds is actually fairly light compared to some loads I have heard. A passive exoskeleton could help here but it does add weight and reduce mobility to a degree.

    strong solar ultraviolet rays

High SPF sunscreen and clothing designed to block out excess UV. But at the same time you need an amount of UV for health.

Missing from the article is any mention of the altitudes which bring there own issues and compound the rest. Moving though that area of the world can induce decompression sickness. Which may have been a factor in his health issues.
