Ok so I know I posted something similar this on the PLAN thread, but since more pictures came out I think it's best to put them here:

Moving to keep up with the Jones?
The First set reminds me of the Australian Navy multicam set might be for a PLANMC type
The second set is a Urban pattern maybe for an Air Force? odd though as Multicam proper is pretty good in most Urban
Third set MULTICAM clone fair in woodland okay in desert okay in urban.
fourth set Desert Multicam similar sets have been studied in the US this one seems more oriented to mountain.
So is the PLA dropping the squares for multicam clones? Pixilated patterns are in fact still pretty good if they are generated with the right concepts IMO the current PLA patterns can be rehabbed to be better dropping the vanity sets and tweaking the colors with a few changes to the dispersal of the Colors and layout. Jumping to Multicam seems either another Vanity move or just to try and keep up with the popular look of the American's and NATO.

The problem with side rails is that you can mount them in three ways. The most common way though is problematic. That is to drill a number of holes into the helmet and bolt the mounts on. This creates weak points in the helmet. On the other side this allows use of a fabric cover.
The other way is to design the helmet with the system integrated from the start. This allows a stronger mount but prohibit use of covers which protects the helmet from scratching and blemishes that can wear into weaknesses over the life of the helmet.
The final way offers the best strength of the helmet but again no cover. That is to use an apoxy to glue on the mounts. The apoxy also offers the best strength of hold for the mounts.
As for the shape of the side rails and NVG mount. There are literally dozens of makers using the same overall design.

Surely it's not some impossible design feat to design helmet covers with cut outs and Velcro flaps that can go on helmets with side rails...
