Basically They stand their and look Impressive, Nicely asking people not to kill each other and can only act if they are attacked. Otherwise they can do nothing and often are placed in a position where they are in the crosshairs yet can do nothing.Peacekeeper forces have been kidnapped, Murdered, Robbed at gunpoint and left wearing only their UN boxershorts in the middle of nowhere. And even used as cover for various unsaveriories who conducted war crimes on civies by using the Un Presence to lure in the unsuspecting.
When there has been push back it's because of another nation who deploys actual combat troops separate form the UN peacekeepers, Like the US who doesn't have any forces attached to the UN peacekeeper command decided to take action.
Peacekeepers are window dressing at best. The poor Schmuck caught in the cross fire most of the time, and a problem of their own at worst.

UNPeacekeepers are useful and serves a purpose as it is intended which is peacekeeping. UN peacekeepers are not combat troops based on very strict ROE.
What does this mean? It means that you put these folks in a region that is already semi stabilized and on it's way to recovery. You DO NOT put them in a place and environment where there is still active fighting!

At best they become target practice like these Chinese troops.. At worst these peacekeepers become the villains themselves targeting civilians like some of the stories we hear in the recent past where African peacekeepers under the banner of UN or the African Union were actively participating in the murder, torturing and raping of innocent victims.

China has established a new committee to guide military research and development (R&D), the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) has announced.

The Strategic Committee of Science, Technology and Industry Development for National Defense became operational earlier this month and will be tasked with providing strategic guidance for military R&D in the country.

China Military Online - a portal run by the China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) - described the committee as one that will conduct research on the "strategic, comprehensive and cutting-edge topics mattering to national security and the long-term development of the nation".

A Chinese criminal gang, called “Pixiu”, has jointly been arrested by Chinese special police officers and Argentine federal police. A total of 40 people were arrested.

Argentina's security minister Patricia Bullrich said on Monday at a press conference that "this is one of the most successful operations in the history of Argentina. It's also a very important action for the protection of local security and tranquility, especially to the security of Chinese people who live in the country."

Last week, police officers from China and Argentina carried out a series of raids against the criminal gang in 22 locations across the Latin American country. A total of 14 guns, 149,000 pesos, 3,700 US dollars as well as some cars and drugs were seized. At least 2 police officers were injured during the raids.

Bullrich said that "Pixiu" had emerged in the Chinese community in Argentina 10 years ago. The gang had extorted protection fees from local Chinese supermarket owners, as well as threatened their lives.

The security minister noted that the leader of "Pixiu" is Chinese. Others among the 40 gang members are from Bolivia, Columbia and Peru.

Currently, nine of them are still detained, while 31 others have been released.
