Siege,

isn't this more directly true for the sinking of the Cheonan? The media had always been a major cause of war.

think about how many crusades were started by the media outlet of the time; churches; kept spinning stories of Muslim rape and desiccation of Christians? maybe not entirely, but sufficiently a factor.

Think about Hitler's propaganda of reuniting the fatherland and the war on Poland. media.

I was just about to bring Cheonan up! I completely agree with what you said. Media is supposed to check on the government in a Democratic society but who is going to check the media? You have to keep in mind that although journalists have their own "code of conduct" most will go out of the way to get "the Ultimate story". A story will only sell well if it has readers and this, I believe, is responsible for the sensationalistic reporting that we see today.

Dont forget that there has always been pro China writers from the West as well.

Felix Greene for example, many of the things he wrote about China in the 60's showed he had the wool pulled over his eyes

So, which media report is to be trusted .... and what is the truth as per the latest news ?
(I hope, we all can agree that some media is trustworthy ... else we can believe nothing).

1. Are there any chinese in Pakistani part of kashmir, and if yes, what is the number ?

2. How many PLA troops are positioned at Khunjerab pass ? -- And is there still a dispute whether PLA troops are at Khunjerab pass or not, or atleast this is confirmed ?

3. How are the logistics of these troops at Khunjerab being managed ?

4. The Chinese labourers (or shall we be more decent and call them Chinese Engineers) are paid for by the Chinese govt or by Pakistani govt (e.g. which pakistani agency (or Road Development Corporation) has awarded the contract to which chinese company) ?

4. The guy from Pakistan (who planned to visit the region) .... did you find Chinese labourers (or engineers) in that area --- how many of them are there ?

5. What is the employment generated for the local kashmiri population ... because of these construction works ? --- or even the menial "daily wage kind of work" also being done by chinese labourers.

6. Also, any information about ... after how much time will these people return to China.

Guys ... can we have the facts right ..... from any authentic media report.

(Please post english language links, if available) ..... I'm afraid there is still a lot of "opinion" stuff circulating in the media ... but not facts.

How is the accessibility to that area ? - is foreign or even pakistani media allowed there ?

Any video footage of Chinese in PoK .. on youtube or simlar site ?

So the only example of a pro-China writer you can think of was described also as delusional in the same sentence? Wow! Thanks for that!

Funny you'd ask those questions, I bet if China wasn't involved you wouldn't give two cents about who is repairing infrastructure for who.

And way to ask question 3 right after questions 2, sounds like your misguided opinion is already formed, why bother asking?

Look on the brightside pal:

I think it would be a bit boring for every member of Sinodefence to be pro-Chinese. A little opposition spices things up and makes the discussion more interesting. ;)

I was meaning that subsequent events showed that the guy was mislead, that does not alter the fact that he was a pro China supporter.

I could have also included Edgar Snow also, now who wouldnt have heard of that name if one was interested in reading abouut countries that had undemocratic govts?

Wait, but this site is for discussion of Chinese military topics, right? No politics, and especially no race-bashing, right? Now let's just tally up the topics on which some members post and see how military related they are...

It just SEEMS TO ME that there are a certain portion of people who are on here not to talk about military issues, who really don't care about military issues, but are just here to troll and grief the ones who actually contribute some useful discussion on military issues. These people get a kick out of posting racism-laced anecdotes worded nicely so it slips by the moderators, but are clearly intended to offend and derail useful conversations about military topics.

Hrm, back in the day, there was something called a kill file for USENET readers. You could just designate the name of an annoying poster in your kill file and you won't see any posts from them. No moderation required and doesn't affect anyone else. I really wish this forum software had such a feature.
