Iraq reportedly finalising HQ-9 air defence order
Mohammed Najib, Ramallah - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
    30 November 2016

Iraq is close to finalising a USD2.5 billion order for Chinese military equipment that includes HQ-9 long-range air defence systems, Iraq's Mawazin news agency cited well-informed sources as saying on 28 November.

The HQ-9 is derived from the Russian S-300PMU system. The exports version is designated the FD-2000 and another version is offered called the FT-2000 that has missiles with passive radar seekers.

The deal may also include Type 99 tanks and other Chinese military equipment, Mawazin reported.

Iraq must have been pretty satisfied with the earlier purchases from China, especially the drones, in view of these fast track purchases of additional military equipment. What better ways to market your equipment than the customer actually trying it in a real war and proving its effectiveness.

When did the Chinese ever deploy the HQ-26?

China's missile deployment in South China Sea completely reasonable: expert
Additionally, does anybody know what is the CSA-6B?

For reference, the HQ-26B is the Chinese equivalent to the SM-3 and was allegedly launched from a weapons ship a few months ago: http://imgur.com/SIxWveZ

Is there any way of tracking the SAM units composition? I know previously Sean O'Connor had a list compiled, but that was several years ago. One would realistically expect at least a few batteries retired their HQ2 and have transitioned to HQ9 and HQ12 per year, since then. But no way of knowing...

These are said to be HQ-9Bs of the Central Theater Command. Not sure how credible the rumor is, though.
