I wonder why the S-400 TEL uses a towed chassis instead of a chassis with a unitary body; seems to make it less off-road capable in that configuration IMO. That middle section looks like it has room to consolidate into a single structure like on the HQ-9.

An news article reporting that claiming that the HQ-9 has been deployed to Zimbabwe. The original source is dubious and the article itself is obviously quite biased so make of it what you will. Though I wonder what needs defending against that requires the HQ-9.

Anyone know range for HQ-22 and if it's focus is on BMD? Or is it more of an S-400 equivalent in that it's designed for maneuverable fighter sized targets and cruise missiles?

Edit. Looks like another HQ-9 based variant with <200km range. Missile fins look different though. Probably purpose based SAM?

It is low end with high end HQ9 the range supposed to be 175 km It was supposed to be modernized HQ 2 by taking the first stage of HQ2 and add up new 2nd stage with improve anti jamming capability. Probably intended for high value protection such as inland air field, important infrastructure, Radar station etc Where the high end HQ9 is arranged along the coast and south west border

China has revealed its latest generation of surface-to-air missile weapon system at the Airshow China 2016.

The new HQ-22 is an all-weather medium-long range air defense weapon system. The new surface-to-air missile weapon system can attack 3rd generation fighters, armed helicopter and medium and high UAV and other aerodynamic targets. It is highly capable of anti-interference and mobile operation.

The HQ-22 has large kill airspace ranges up to 150-170 km at an altitude from 50 to 27,000m which super adaptive anti-jamming capacity with several anti-jamming measures.

The HQ-22 have FK-3 export version. It is capable of intercepting various targets like fixed-wing aircraft (including UAV), cruise missiles, tactical air-to-surface missiles, armed helicopters, etc. Killing zone: slant range 5km-100km/altitude 0.05km-27km.
