(the latter is posted by Pointblank before I think), it seemed that the deal for MBT-2000 falls out.

Reading from between the lines, I have this feeling that the main issue doesn't lies with the engines, but because Peru had a large fleet of T-55 and it is not very wise to operate two totally different tanks (a seemingly logistical nightmare).

Plus Tifon 2 is a joint development program with the Ukraine and so Peru should have the capability and technical know how to manufacture, upgrade and modify the Tifon 2. Thus it is actually a very logical route to take and make the Tifon 2 its national tanks.

(PS. Unless MBT-2000 could proof to be very much more powerful than the Tifon 2, it stand no chance of winning the contract. And even if the MBT-2000 was to be very much better than the Tifon 2, Peru will only purchase a small quantity of these tanks to arm her most elite tank units.)
