In the past Paint Schemes were less restricted as it was just a general aviation paint, as long as it matched safety standards and military regs they could do what they wanted.
In the modern era Military fighter paints are more restricted in color as they often contain IR and Radar stealth technology. this is part of the reason why you have more and more subdued markings and patterns.

Thanks for the explanation , just wondering because i like the Israeli f-16s cammo and toughed it would look cool on a Qatar Rafale.
