Can you confirm T-50 would not have S shaped air inlets ? and same question for J-20 also.

It would have radar blockers and of course RAM in air duct . S shaped air inlets were considered but they were rejected as Russians found out they reduce inflow of air at high speed , i.e. reduce max speed of aircraft . There was a patent awarded for S-ducts on PAK FA btw . Overall, as I said , Russians do not consider stealth in X-band to be such important thing anymore .

Russians could have also lacked funds or did't get stealthy shaped ducts (shape alone doesn't make it stealthy) to work for some other reason. We know that both Americans and Chinese are using special robots and materials to paint insides of F-22/35 and J-20 ducts.

T-50 project also has relatively small budget (roughly 10 billion what is less than Gripens) so I assume that radar blockers were chosen from that reason.

Guys, the endless wrangling and back and forth arguments about the PAK FA having what it talks to match the F-22 and the responses to it...and all of the circular arguments about it have become meaningless.

The PAK FA has not even had a single production aircraft built and is a long way from operational capability. The Russians are backing way off of aggressive schedules for building the aircraft.

Unless and until it becomes operational and has all of the improvements, gadgetry, new equipment, etc. that the Russians will use to get it there...such comparisons just cannot be made. The PAK FA simply is not ready for prime time yet.

As Tphuang said, let's get back to discussing what actually IS happening with it, and stop speculating on how it might perform against current operational aircraft. It is clear that such speculation leads to endless...and ultimately meaningless...back and forth that only side tracks the thread.

S-shaped inlets are not that high-tech or expensive compared to rest of the stuff planned for PAK FA ( L-band radar, completely new EW suite , new engines etc ... ) . As I said, Sukhoi did submit patent for S-shaped ducts , but they decided not to implement that in order to bust maximum speed .

BTW , according to Russian sources below , trials of new anti-radiation missile Kh-58UShKE have begun . This missile is important because it is a first weapon that could be deployed weapons bay of PAK FA , as opposed to previous trials where PAK FA launched missiles from external hardpoints.

Which brings us to the one "aspect" of the T-50 that is not quite up to gorgeous, the stabilator seems slightly less "slik" than the rest of the bird, likely a carbon fibre lay-up ", its transition into the rear of the rudder-vator foundation, and the leading edge into the aft side of the main wing seems "awkward", the "boxed" L shaped vertical gate built into the stabilator no doubt serves as a "fence" aerodynamically and to heat/radar return from the engines?

If anyone could post a detailed shot of where the stabilator fairs into the trailing edge of the wing, that would be interesting, it almost seems to have "brushes" fairing that leading edge, I'll have to get out my model?
