What would your advice have been after the embassy bombing. The "Cole" and Twin Towers. Turn the other Cheek?

of course not.
you react by bomb out some medicine factory in dirt poor country, and invade another country that has nothing to do with the whole affair and on brink of starvation by your sanctions.

and beat up some sikhs that is down the street running your neighborhood convient store.
hey, they have dark skins, beards and turbans just like the those barbarics in caves!

u deliver great point many times, but i agree with tphuang, that there r a ton of fake news on chinese websites everywhere. i've seen so many of them myself, so for someone who does more serious research in preparing his articles, will actually be in further stronger ground to say that

I gather he was having issue with the misleading title that wrongfully points to the Chinese media as the source of that crappy piece of news. That I agree.

But seriously, I think he meant people should not react to it with more violence. They should always go with the judicial way, something like that. Easier said than done, but that doesn't mean it has no truth to it.

Personally I didn't want to see Osama killed, but I did read his obituaries with a sense of pleasure.

people should not react to it with more violence.

As you say .its easier said than done, but wind the clock back to the seventies when the Jews and the West were having a raft of terrorist activities conducted against them by groups such as the "Black September" and co. with bombings and aircraft jackings etc..

The Mossad hunted down the chief architects of these activities, and after a while, these groups got the message and they stopped.

of course not.

and other countries aren't capable of making the same error of judgement or reacting in the same manner when faced with similar circumstances?

you think Terrorism stopped after Mossad hunted them down? Ever rode in EL AL flight lately?

Ok it didnt stop terrorist activities entirely , taking out the head honchos (sometimes years later) and improved security certainly reduced the spate of hijackings/bombings, from the 70's level.

P.S> It was'nt just EL Al flights that were hijacked.(Achille Lauro cruise liner)and other Western airlines. When was the last airliner hijacked by a Arab terrorist with a beef against Israel?.

After what happened to OBL I wonder what odds Gadaffi gives himself to live to a ripe old age, even if he was prepared to go into exile?

Reuters obtained the photos found in this link from a Pakistani security official who took these pictures. Oh yeah... bloody picture warning!

They show three unidentified males. One could be Bin Laden's son because he has a very close resemblance.

it makes me wonder if i.e is not only a new member to the forum, but also a bit too ideal for IR. preaching divine moral wisdoms in IR is a death sentence; u'll only use it to explain away some of your actions, such as securitization

hehehe... I am not sure whether debating with a mod is a good idea. The point is, TAHT link, comes from DEFENCE TALK, a "famous" western forum. The guy who put the post together, "JUST POST RANDOM STUFF", and using the shocking title "Chinese says this", - because Chinese news agency, at this time, quoting some other news agency... and he knows when he say "Chinese says this", everyone else would make it "it is said by Chinese news agency"

Since you don't want to make it looks like "I am judging this thing by ONLY ONE occurance", you brought out the big gun:"Do you realize how much irrelevant stuff I have to sort through on Chinese defense forums"

Hat off for the mod job which I really appreciate. But if I say the following, what would you think? "Do you have any idea how many white-racist I come accross, every time, surfing a western forum?" - So, WTF? why brought up the big gun when there is no point to brought it up?

A good forum trys to stop trolls, right? So we ALL to avoid "jump to conclusion", shall we? (The fact of Xinhua news agency doing a shit job, I agree. But you can take a look again and again, they quoting others, NOT CLAIMING they said, unlike that shock title fooled many senior members here...)
Well, I am Chinese, so I think I should call them out on issues that they need to improve on. And I do hope Xinhua and CCTV improve on their journalism, so they can be more respected around the world. And when it comes to something like this, they really should try harder in bringing real journalism rather than just piggyback off other news agency.

Now, there are a lot of Chinese on this forum who are very proud of Chinese accomplishment. If the non-Chinese mod criticize China too much, they can look to be accused of being racist or anti-Chinese. So, it's up to mods like me to point out areas that China still needs to work on.
