It's completely unnecessary in this case since that tank is clearly from the 112th Division and the ORBAT of the 112th Division's armour assets is widespread knowledge among the PLA-watching community.

Chinese Wikipedia says that there is 500 earlier versions of type 099 and more than 500 of type 099A? Is it reliable?
Nope. There are around 600 of the original 99s and, so far, around 150 99As.
Not so many type 099A only 50 more than Japan Type 10 and about the same as SK K2 tank, english wiki says 250 so it is also wrong number then.

. Jokes aside I can understand if the VT-4 comes with a data purge option seeing as most modern armies are becoming increasingly digitized, but it would only be of value if the rest of the army is digitized as well, seeing the condition the Thai royal army is in, that is doubtful.
