New Hull Rumours Thread - Come along, pics of shipyard hulls, and let the rumours fly

First up, we have this new modularly put together hull, still in its early infancy.

I would like folks to note where I have inserted the arrow, notice that there are two apparently large cut outs resembling two decks...

Now if we refer back to previous model images of the Type 71LPH (someone please post), in front of the flood bay for the LCVPs are two decks for strorage, eg, tanks and vehicles.

If this was a military vessel, this indeed maybe our Type 71, and this is the first piece of evidence to support it.

We also have two new hulls as seen in some other photos, please post them if someone has em, as they are rumoured as the Type 054As.

I agree that it looks like a LSD. Twin vehicle decks (twice height of normal deck) plus the sloping in sides - common on military boats to reduce RCS but no real point if it was civilian.

Hey Popeye, I think all of the new pictures are in the picture thread. There seems to be a whole Plethora of new pictures coming out lately with 054A, LPD and a rumoured new submarine under construction (possibly the 2nd Yuan?)

And the guy that posted the "LPD" picture is supposedly quite credible. Apparently, he also first posted pictures of 168 and 170. And when he posted those, nobody thought they were destroyers, but they turned out to be so. Maybe he has some inside connection with PLAN.

It would be exciting if the hulls indeed turn out to be 054As. However, at this stage we don't know if they are the new PLAN FFGs or F-22Ps built for the Pakistani navy.

there is plenty of analysis of this on Chinese forum. Basically, they are pretty sure that this is 054A based on previous 054A model pictures on 054 pictures. It looks like the hull expanded a little bit. Also, F-22P has just started construction. 054A looks to be a lot further ahead.

1) This new 052D DDG, whats the armament and configuration?
2) From the picture you posted, there seems to be a simply enormous hanger deck, it this ship much bigger than 052B or 052C?
3) What are the general specs of this DDG?

First off I'm not doubting for a single minute that the PLAN is building an LPD type ship. However..like I said in an previous post those pictures could be of any sort of ship. I want to see some positive proof. The latest picture loos like there is some sort of control tower to the right.

If you guys have any other pics of the susposed 071. Please post. I would love to see an aireal view of the construction. Then we may be able to decern what sort of ship it is...Right now all I see is ship modules under construction
