Just imagine. In one of those galaxies, Luke was battling Lord Vader...

ISS international crew receives newcomers with open arms

KOROLEV (Moscow region), (Itar-Tass) - Inhabitants of the International
Space Station (ISS) - Russian cosmonaut Dmitry Kondratyev, European Space Agency
(ESA) astronaut Paolo Nespoli and NASA astronaut Catherine Coleman, who have
been working in orbit together for more than three weeks, with open arms greeted
their colleagues of the next long-term expedition that arrived on the
Soyuz spaceship.

After the hatches of the Soyuz TMA-21 (Gagarin) ship that docked to ISS opened,
commander - Russian cosmonaut Alexander Samokutyayev was the first to enter, Andrei
Borisenko was the second NASA astronaut Ronald Garan was the last to leave
the Soyuz.

Immediately after the reunion in orbit the ISS combined crew received congratulations
on the successful docking from Earth - from the leadership of the Russian, American
and European space programmes, as well as from relatives.

“The crew working at the station and the astronauts that have arrived feel well,”
Director of the Institute of Medico-Biological Problems of the Russian Academy
of Sciences (RAS) Igor Ushakov said. According to him, the crew of the arrived
Soyuz spacecraft “has a very good psychological atmosphere.”

Wouldn’t that be fantastic! Think of all the millions of galaxies and the millions of star systems in each one.

You could have a Star Wars one,
A Star Trek one,
A Battle Star Galactica one,
Etc……

Sounds like fun. While traversing the galaxies, just make sure you don't accidentally carry in your stomach a baby Alien creature on board your spaceship.

Anniversary of Launch Vehicle Vex 1B and next steps in the Argentina Tronador II project

Ff9ZqZG.jpg

(Defensa.com) The National Commission on Space Activities (CONAE) of the Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services commemorates the 15th of August 2015 the first anniversary of the successful launch of the VEX Experimental Vehicle 1 B, held in Punta Indio, Buenos Aires, as evidence for future Argentine satellite launcher Tronador II. The Vex allowed 1B flight test system navigation, guidance and control, among other vehicle systems and the associated ground segment, for the operation of the vehicle was also tested. After these results are advanced to the next step of the project: the development of experimental vehicles VEX 5 for testing more complex, reaching operating pitcher Tronador II, to put satellites into orbit of Earth observation up to 250 kilograms.

The next step of the project is already underway, with the next test Vex 5A in the Launch Control Center Experimental Vehicles in Punta Indio. It is a two-stage vehicle, which reproduces a bounded time scale and progressively similar to the launcher Tronador II, which have also two stages and the same propellant (fuel and oxidant) in each event. Vex upper 5A (called second stage) has a configuration similar to Vex1B. The new vehicle will be incorporated in May Vex another segment: the first stage, which takes as a fuel called kerosene KC-1, which is especially developed for this project, and liquid oxygen as the oxidizer. As part of the trial of the first stage of Vex 5A is expected to make a kind of vertical ascent path (similar to the trajectory of VEx1B), propelling longer and with greater thrust. There will also be instances of successive tests of control jet nozzles, separation stages, the second stage ignition and termination of the flight. During the test is evaluated in real time flight parameters, and can decide the termination of the mission according to the partial results obtained.

Vehicle Vex 5A is the first issue in which events of greater complexity will be tested in a progressive sequence. In the following VEx-5 vehicles they will continue testing the same events, to gain reliability. The ultimate goal is to test the technology associated with the mechanisms and functions that must be met in flight, concluding with a final test of all the events of the mission, adding other features to complete all of the launcher for your operating performance .

Only 10 countries in the world today have their own satellite launchers to them soon Argentina would join. By Tronador II project is fully developed in the country's ability to launch satellites from the national territory. The Tronador II placed in orbit satellites SARE series of segmented architecture for Earth observation, which will provide useful information for agriculture, fisheries, hydrology, emergency management, health, among other applications.
