My son has worked on a couple of productions that don't pay on time. Usally when that happens the crew quits. Fortunatley he's Union so he did get paid.

As far as being a script supervisor or PA your right too much multi-tasking. Especially for a PA. They every errand on & off set. Get coffee. Hand out script re-writes. Run off set errands. Take a lot of crap from directors..etc...etc..

Saw the new star Trek Movie, Loved it! Long time Trek Fan too. There will be a sequel, it has been announced. I like pretty much any sci fi, so long as it has been well thought out to begin with. HUGE Galactica fan also, but then considering my interest in naval aviation and sci fi a series about an aircraft carrier in space was always going to push my buttons!;)

I've long believed good and indeed great movies are made in spite of the hollywood system, not because of it. They kind of slip out under the radar of the execs, who were probably told the movie was something else to begin with! My eldest brother and his then wife were extras on a big budget movie back in the 80s called Revolution starring Al Pacino, about the American war of independence ( it was filmed in Cornwall!). Mega budget, mega flop! Hollywood basically churns out a lot of movies every year in the hope that a few will succeed. The small number of hits generate enough profit to cover the flops and continue the cycle.

I also like watching really BAD movies, just for fun. You haven't lived until you've seen Plan 9 From Outer Space!:nana:

    Let the nerdiness begin.

I thought this through while I was watching Star Trek. It would seem that it would happen the way you said at first, and if the Enterprise ever got close it would indeed go down that way. But let's remember the Galactica has an entire airwing. That is the key to victory. The Galactica can just instantaneously jump around, and so can its Raptors, until it finds the Enterprise, lay an ambush with its air wing or deploy the air wing them jump away. One nuke from a Raptor should be enough to disable the Enterprise to the point that the Vipers could finish it off. The Enterprise has no weapons suitable for use against lots of independent small craft in all directions.

Basically its like the Prinice of Wales and the Repulse (a fast battleship and a battlecruiser) off of Malaysia in 1941. If they had ever gotten close to the Japanese fleet they would have gone through them like tissue paper but they were destroyed by naval aviation before they could even find the enemy much less get within gun range. It's basically just the classic carrier vs. battleship situation in space.

Second one's better, first is just like an intricate cut paste job.

Also, on which ship is better in various sci fi, STAR DESTROYER OWNS ALL!! (The reddish ones in revenge of the sith). Star Wars ships look the best in all of the Sci Fi universes I think.
Star Trek's ships are weird. To this day I have not found one source on why they're shaped like why they are. Anyone know why?

If I recall, they are that way because Gene Roddenberry listed some rules regarding ship design in the Star Trek universe. If you want the nerd explanation, they are that way to optimize the sub-space field/warp bubble.
