Critics are really bashing Suicide Squad.

I think the problem with the DCEU is that DC is moving too soon, too fast. The MCU had a 4-year gap including 4 additional solo movies from Iron Man (2008) to Avengers (2012).

It's pretty much damned if they do, damned if they don't at this stage. I think that Warner Bros is primarily motivated by the fear that superhero fatigue will set in for good after the Infinity War films are out. If they don't speed up now, they'll miss the train and won't have a proper franchise to sustain themselves.

Yep! That's a legit concern. I have always been more of a DC guy although I read both Marvel and DC comic books. DC superheroes look tougher and darker to me, while Marvel superheroes seem more cartoonish to me...

So I love the latest DC movies. SvB is awesome to me. And the Suicide Squad also looks good. Not sure when I get to watch it since I'm swamped with work but I will definite go see it.

Apparently in preview screenings, Warner Bros showed two different cuts of Suicide Squad to different groups of people. One the director's cut and the other the studio's cut. This is apparently because of what happened with Batman vs Superman. So critics' review could be somewhat of a distortion.

I just came back from Suicide Squad. Even though it wasn't the best "superhero" movie, it was an entertaining action movie. It was a quick intro of the top characters and the action started pretty fast into the movie. Sort of the opposite of Batman vs Superman where setup was more like an hour. Given that it was a straight forward story. Nothing complex.

I think they are better off not interfering in the future. Wonder Woman trailer actually looks really good/unique.

I just came back viewing the Japanese version of Godzilla and well, it was certainly a curve ball from the US version.
The narrative was the same with Godzilla roaming around Tokyo reeking havoc to anything it touches with the Military conventional weapons not even making a scratch. The US drops bunker busters on Godzilla which was able to pierce through Godzilla's skin only aggravating it and be smacked with radioactive plasma rays that was emitted not only from it's mouth but through out his spiky spine and tail.
The UN declares international emergency and votes to destroy it with a thermal nuclear warhead shooting a ICBM into the center of Tokyo within 10 days and orders the Japanese government to evacuate the region by then.
Sounds similar?
Well the story is basically the same but this movie focuses on how bureaucrats and the government reaches decisions and gives you a glimpse on how Japanese style bureaucracy works.
The protagonist is not some dashing military personnel but a mid-level government official guiding his task team to seek a weak point in Godzilla while the PM is listening to various briefs and status reports of evacuation, the projection on damages of private property, stock reports and currency exchange rates on top of JSDF plans on how to neutralize the monster while discussing the situation with the POTUS of joint plans.
It sure wasn't the same run of the mill monster movie and I am guessing government officials and bureaucrats viewing were smiling, muttering to themselves now you know how much we are doing behind the scene during a crisis. :p

I always like the Japanese style Godzilla better, especially when he's battling other big monsters. So on this latest version he is the enemy....so he doesn't fight any other monsters?
