So, saw the Civil War last evening at Cineplex. I ordered a 2D but was told that only VIP tickets were available. I am no VIP, so went to the 3D again. Feeling dizzy at scenes that move fast.

The so-called Civil War was a war between the Avengers themselves. They were called Destroyers because wherever they fought, they cause huge destruction. They were requested to stay apart and sign an accord. Some signed, some not.

A Sokovia victim of Avengers' huge destruction wanted to revenge but he did not have the power to fight them. So he used tricks to make them fight each other. Spiderman was call in to help (this Spiderman was too young and so for his aunt May). I missed the Age of Ultron, so I don't know when did they add a few characters who have the power of the mutant. Will they add Wolverine in the next movie? ;)

I just watched Civil War. The action was one of the best coming from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even though I understand why it ended the way it did, since it was a superhero movie you expect bigger reasons on why all this was happening. The villain from the comics had a larger scheme I've been told. Not so in this movie unless that part remains to be seen. The Spider-man parts were pretty good. Bodes well for the stand-alone Spider-man movies. The only problem was Spidey looked cartoon CGI. Not like more realistic looking Iron Man CGI. The only time it wasn't CGI it looked like a Halloween costume. Peter Parker had the mask up, probably to avoid having to do the eye effects, so you can see Tom Holland's face. If he had it down, it probably would've looked like a cheap costume. I hope they fix that for the stand alone movies. It's pretty clear that there will be no redo on an origin story for the new Spider-man. Looks like Peter Parker will be Spider-man from the start unless they do flashbacks. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Not gonna happen till Fox shares the rights.

Gonna see it tomorrow after I'm done with my final exam! So hyped for it!!!

Just came back from Civil War. Although it is on par with Winter Soldier quality-wise, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much, ironically, due to my investment in the characters and the universe. Here are my thoughts:

1) Story was good for the most part but the first half was slow and had way too many jump cuts to different geographical locations, which got grating after a while. I know that it was probably necessary to setup the conflict and the overarching plot, so it was a necessary evil.
2) Characters were handled respectfully and A-list actors like RDJ really had a chance to demonstrate their acting chops. Dialogue was superb and some of the scenes wouldn't feel out of place in a drama film.
3) Action was a great blend of practical stunts and very photo-realistic CGI. I heard that they brought the John Wick action directors on board for some of the scenes and it really shows. Each superhero got to use his/her abilities creatively and although some of the scenes (like the airport scene) featured so much action, non of it felt overstuffed or was hard to follow. Only complaint was the shaky cam in the opening fight scene. Really got to commend the Russo brothers for nailing the actions once again.
4) There was so much mood whiplash within the film. It goes from the standard light and funny Marvel fare (mostly Spider-man, Ant-man, and Vision) to grim and serious before you can say "go web". Things, unlike in Age of Ultron, actually felt at stake here, and the jokes and quips were used appropriately and NECESSARY to add levity to an otherwise dark story.
5) Last act of the story was an emotional rollercoaster for me. Even though the villain motive was extremely stupid (in my humble opinion) the acting by RDJ, Chris Evans, and Daniel Bruhl really sold it on an emotional level. I was more tense during the last act than I was during the extremely difficult database exam I took this morning. As pathetic as it sounds, some parts even made me tear up.
6) As with Winter Soldier, the story was far deeper than the standard Marvel movie fare. The key theme investigated in the movie was that of collateral damage and whether superheroes should be held responsible. They kinda touched on the same themes in Marvel Netflix and to a lesser extent, Age of Ultron, but they really drove it home in this one by putting human faces on it.
7) Spider-man and Black Panther were easily the best characters in the film. Really looking forward to the Black Panther film since Chadwick Boseman really has the gravitas and acting chops to play the part of the regal Wakandan king. Ryan Coogler will be directing the Black Panther movie and I loved both Creed and Fruitvale Station. The ending scene of the latter made me tear up.
8) I thought that this version of Zemo was actually a very effective villain. Didn't know what other reviewers were complaining about. He was nothing like the comic version but was in no way a lame and ineffectual one. His brief backstory added a lot of depth to him as a character.
9) This is not a movie you want to watch if you just want to relax (like from a test or something). It will be emotionally exhausting for you if you happen to love Marvel movies or characters. If you just watch the movie for the actions and quips (which there is an abundance of) then you'll probably have a good time.

I am probably gonna hold off re-watching the movie in theater because quite frankly I'm a bit shaken right now. Kudos to the Russo brothers for making me feel this way, I suppose.

Marvel does not have the movie rights for X-Men, Fantastic-4 and until recently Spider-man. Marvel owns the original IP (comics) but when it comes to movies X-Men, Fantastic-4 rights go to Fox and Sony got Spider-man. Marvel/Disney and Sony came to an agreement with Spider-man and thats why you are seeing him in Civil-War, but X-Men for the moment no chance in hell. In fact Marvel can't even use the word "Mutant" in their movies. There was some loop-hole that allowed Marvel to use Scarlet-Witch and Quicksilver but they were prohibited to use the term "Mutant" hence the term "Enhanced" in the MCU. At one time it was rumored Marvel/Disney would reboot their entire comic line killing off x-men. MCU was going to challenge the X-Men with their own "Inhumans" and related series but thing seem to have cooled down a little bit.

We saw Captain America: Civil War.

Loved it. Not only a great 3rd Capt. America movie, but with all the others participating it might as well have been a full Avengers movie too.

Anyhow...if you like the genre and what Marvel has been doing...definitely see this film.

Did you take your grand kids?

I teared up during the last act. Personally I think that although you don't need to know to be a huge Marvel Studios fan to enjoy the movie, you do need prior knowledge of the characters as well as their arcs in the previous films to truly appreciate the emotional pay off.

Films I'd recommend watching before Captain America, Civil War:

Important -
Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Avengers: Age of Ultron

Intermediate -

The Avengers

Bonus -

Ant-man

I finally saw sup vs batm and I have to say I was a lil bored in the 1st hour. I think the character building while important in most movies was a tad too draggy in this one.
It was also too dark for my liking.
