I recommend a good movie I saw called “Un Cuento Chino” in Spanish “A Chinese story” it is an Argentine film about an encounter between Roberto and a Chinese named Jun who is dumped from a taxi in the City of Buenos Aires while in search of his only living family, his uncle. Roberto is a veteran of the Falklands/Malvinas War and has stop living his live due to the trauma and has since lived confined to his home and business, entrenched, almost without contact with the world, until this lost Chinese man helps bring him back into the world.

The movie is in two languages (Argentine Spanish and Mandarin Chinese). I guess you could call it a sad comedy or a character development film.

That looks interesting thanks for sharing.:)

I am looking forward to Matt Damon in '"The Martian," in October. It's about a mission to Mars where, after they land, they have to leave the planet because of a storm and end up leaving a crew member behind they thought had died.

He has to survive in very minimal/basic conditions...and the crew have to decide whether to risk all to try and disobey orders and go back and get him.

I read the novel some time ago and this looks good.

I know I can't wait for it to come out.:D

Just saw The Martian. Yes it's Saving Private Ryan in space. I enjoyed it. Ridley Scott does space very well. Not sure if they were jumping on the Gravity bandwagon on science "faction" as I saw Matt Damon in an interview call it. I thought this was better than Gravity because it was bigger. The producers really want Chinese moviegoers to watch this too since China has a part in the rescue mission. Don't like how trailers have things they cut out in the movie. Like in this one you hear about Matt Damon's character concern for his family. Not one mention I can recall talking about them in the movie.

Just came back from "The Martian". Simply an amazing movie and a return to form for Ridley Scott. If you live in the States and haven't seen it, go see it immediately!

I felt that this film, above all, is a film for engineers and engineer wannabes. Assembly level computer programming -- a discipline I am involved in -- plays a significant role in the film and as do chemistry, botany, astrodynamics, and a whole bunch of other scientific disciplines.

Despite its grittiness (and a brief gory scene in the beginning), the film never failed to feel uplifting and you'll root for Mark Watney (the stranded astronaut) through out the film. Although the movie cuts between Mark, the Aries IV crew, and mission support on Earth, they feel natural and even the dialogue heavy exposition scenes are interesting, especially if you have a rudimentary knowledge of engineering and space travel.

The few gripes I have with the film concern the overplayed dorkiness of several engineer/astroscientist type characters. However, the few problems this film have are simply overshadowed by the majestic effects (gorgeous scenes of the desolate Martian landscape, spacecraft, and orbital maneuvers), simple yet effective plot, and the underlying themes of hope and perseverance.

p.s. Yes, Sean Bean is in this movie and yes, ****Spoilers**** he delivers a cringe inducing Lord of the Rings joke. He doesn't die in this one though.

I saw it on Opening night, A great flick with only a few hand waves on the Science.

You forgot Interstellar.... Remember we lost him again in interstellar. The US has spent Trillions of Trillions of Dollars to get him back.

I actually enjoyed this film more than I did Interstellar. I felt that Interstellar strove for the human angle but sadly fell short, whereas this film delivered perfectly.
