Yes it's better then a Yugo..... lowest common denominator.
Its not perfect, but it's a wild ride.

Well, despite Jurassic World being predictable and more of the same...this weekend it set the all time record for highest grossing film. Both in the US, and worldwide.

Over $208 million US, and over $315 million in the rest of world. A total of over $523 million in the first weekend.

Amazing really.

Jurassic World continues a phenomenal 1st week.

A $208 million (US) opening weekend in the US with a $314 million (US) opening weekend in the rest of world. Both record all time opening weekend for any movie.

Since then have followed several days of phenomenal weekday takes. Here in the US:

Monday: $25.3 million
Tuesday $24.3 million
Wednesday $19.9 million

Pretty crazy.

It will certainly be one of the all-time largest grossing US and World-wide movies in history. Not even a week old and already almost $600 million world-wide through Wednesday. It will remain the top grosser this weekend and may end up (probably will end up) as the fastest movie to $1 billion (US) world-wide in history.

I guess I will relent and take the grandsons to see it this weekend.

Well You have to remember that a lot of Ghostbuster was the comedic chemistry of Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson. Especially Aykroyd and Murray look at there carreers every time you have Aykroyd and Murray on the same screen Comedy Gold. add in Ramis ( RIP) and It's an even more explosive ( See Stripes for Details) and then Hudson for straight-man and it was the perfect formula. Trouble is the old crew kinda burnt out after GB2, now they are older and Harold Ramis passed. You can't get that unique mix with out the proper ingredients. It's Impossible to teach someone to be Dan Aykroyd or Bill Murray or Harold Ramis the chemistry would be different. I mean Bill Murray Ad-libbed most of his lines. he took a take of the script then made his own funnier version on the fly.

They've had a script for a sequel ready for years for the original cast to return but it was Bill Murray that held it up. They sent him the script and Murray literally never called back or anything. When Harold Ramis died, that's when they moved on giving up on any sequel including any of the original cast. It was logical to turn the cast into all female. With only Dan Ackroyd and Ernie Hudson returning, the movie probably wouldn't have worked well. I read they eventually are going to do one with a male-centric cast but probably not so soon after Ramis' death.
