Wolverine on the Avengers depends primarily on three things. 1 ) Disney and Fox. Disney owns Marvel studio and all the rights but, Marvel before Disney brought them signed a contract with Fox for all the rights to the Xmen and a few other properties. Until that contact expires or unless they hammer a deal wolverine is off limits.
2)X men Apocalypse.
Fox has slated for a 2016 release the third of the second Xmen retrospective films entitled Xmen Apocalypse set to take place in 1986. Remember Sony pictures signed the new deal with Disney only after the release of The Amazing Spiderman 2 which bombed in release it was the worst sellers of all the superhero movies of that season. Had it succeed chances are instead of joining the Avengers Spidey would have a third of TAS continuity films in the works. Thus far Fox has done Okay with Xmen in terms of sales Days of Future past cost 200 million for production but brought in 760 million ij revenues. In other words there seems no need.
3) Continuity
The Xman is a hard continuity to work into the current Avengers franchise. I mean the Avengers is not one movie but dozens that either have been produced or will be. And each one has major events that have to coincide with the others. Avengers however kicked off hard with the events of the NYC invasion which suddenly announced the existence of Super heroes. Okay? So?
Okay so the Xmen continuity basically says that the worlds population is maybe one mutant out of every thousand people. And that maybe 1 out of every dozen is a really powerful mutant. That means there should already have been hundreds of potential or operating super hero's. That takes the wind out of the Avengers sails. I mean spidey or other non mutant based superheroes of Marvel could be passed off by saying that they just didn't have there abilities yet. But Xmen says oh no Mutants have been around since ancient civilizations. And if so then when the chitari attacked New York where were they? I mean NYC is not a small city and per population there has to be a number of hidden powerful mutants. Mutants who suddenly find themselves forced to defend themselves. So where were they?
Now that said if you have been watching you might have caught the Easter eggs.
Marvel studio's is replete with Easter eggs. In the Avengers after all the heroics during the media blitz we see a Stan Lee cameo but he's not making this cameo alone, his playmate is Eric Lensher aka Magneto at the same Chess Board we see him sitting at during the end roll of Xmen 3. He's not the only one Captain America 2 the Winter Soldier and the Avengers 2 movies both have two more Mutant characters Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch. Now Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are siblings. Twins and occasionally in a disturbing bit of continuity lovers... But they are also the Children of Eric Lecher aka Magneto. Now both took to the screen in the end credits of Captain America 2 The Winter Soldier, but Quick silver... He's a fast one. Quicksilver managed to pull more screen time then his sister because he was not just in Winter Soldier but he was also in X-Men days of Future Past.
In days of Future past set in 1973 wolverine needing to break magneto out of a super high security jail recruits a young speedsters with silver hair answering to Quicksilver. Additionally this speedster has a moment with magneto where he says "So I hear you can control metal... My mother used to know a guy like that" translation. "Hi dad, this has to be the most awkward father son bonding moment of all time!"
And here we have a issue. Xmen future past takes place in 1973. Avengers Age of Ultron takes place in the modern era presumably 2015. If Quicksilver was say 15 in 1973 then he would be 58-59 today farther more his "twin" sister would be the same. And that's a issue as the actors playing them in Avengers are in there mid 20s Quicksilver ( I for got his name but I know he's 24 ) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen the younger and more serious actress sibling of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen) is 26. Adding to this is that the Quicksilver of Xmen days of future past had no indication of a twin. He did have a sibling but assuming that was scarlet witch then they could not have been twins in the conventional sense as the child Quicksilver held when watching magneto on TV was a far younger.
Unless that is Quicksilver's mutant power prematurely aged him into puberty and then both his powers and those of his sister then locked there aging process or Hydra made one heck of a aging reduction breakthrough that would have Hollywood beating down the door. The Xmen movie continuities and the Avengers can't be the same.

Unlike Sony, Fox doesn't have the incentives to share with Disney Marvel since their X-men franchise is pretty successful (thanks to Singer's return). I highly doubt that they will give up Wolverine -- their most popular character -- any time soon.

Well if you remember Sabertooth was in the origins X-Men movie to then be different from in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. The you have Emma Frost played by two different people from First Class to the Wolverine Origins movie. That's within their own X-Men universe.

well Mace I think that just shows how badly the Xmen Continuity has been messed with more then anything. In Xmen Origins Wolverine Tahyna Tozzi played a woman named Emma who used similar powers ( Shifting to a Crystalline form ), Yet there was no sign of Telepathy.
Also Her last name is never given She is identified as the sister of Silverfox however Emma Frost is never stated as having any Kin other then lovers. Also Although Identified as Frost in the Tailors Tozzi's character was credited as Kayla's sister/Emma.

Sabertooth worked as the Tyler Mane Sabertooth in Xmen movie sabertooth was older and could have farther mutated to the form we see in the movie which is more heavily based on the Comics. Well the Wolverine Liev Schreiber Sabertooth was more conservative. one could see the Liev Schreiber Sabertooth who was working for Stryker submitting to a battery of genetic augmentation experiments to try and become better then Wolverine and in the process becoming the Tyler Mane Sabertooth.

WRT to MCU and X-Men universes, basically, in the rebooted canon, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch aren't Magneto's children anymore. So that makes things a little easier for Marvel.

Also, Marvel is working around not being allowed to touch anything mutant, by repurposing the "Inhumans". People with powers will be branded "Inhuman", Agents of Shield lays some of the groundwork for how they plan to work all that out on the big screen later.

As for what the Inhumans were before, it's best to leave that to YouTube videos, where hundreds of different nerds would be glad to explain that.

and that would work for the minor characters of Xmen and a few others but they can't though the main line Xmen. Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Professor X, Beast, Domino, Psyche, Shadowcat, Storm, Ice man, Pyro, Colossus, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Emma Frost, Magneto ecta.. ecta... Disney can't touch with out a new deal same for Dead pool

and the F4. Disney can't touch them as the rights are under contract. which means that Fox could launch it's own semi Avengers with the F4 DP and Xmen trouncing some one. or at least the F4 and Xmen well Wade Trolls the Whole thing.

Ah, sorry, I never meant to imply that the Inhuman plan was to work the X-men in. Only wanted to mention that Marvel's chosen recourse around the continuity mess, is to repurpose older ideas and canon to serve various storytelling needs. Kinda like how Mace mentioned Black Panther taking Spider-Man's role before the recent deal was worked out.

EDIT:
Also, you just wanted a reason to use that Deadpool smilie eh? I did that host thing for some smilies myself elsewhere too, haha.

It's DP And you cant post About DP without doing something special for him... else he will break the Fourth wall hunt you down and un-alive you. Because that's how he rolls... After all He killed the entire marvel universe and the Staff writers of Marvel comics....I mean Hell When the DP movie comes to theaters

I fully expect him to be seen on Screen Watching the Fantastic four and Avengers movies. I expect him to run into Stan Lee in a cameo, And call him out well pitching Him self for a Comic.
I demand the Production company Hire a army of actors to show up in costume as DP and sit through the movie at every major cinema in the country during opening night just to break the fourth wall. I expect the film makers to be loyal to the source materials and have a scene where DP literally breaks the fourth wall. I can picture it now.... during a end credit scene DP is moving into an apartment he's hanging the picture of Dog's playing poker you see him move along the screen tapping for a stud in the wall... he finds something he grabs the hammer and a nail he hammers the nail into the screen we see the lens cracking he puts up the picture on the screen it goes black then... The picture falls the lens shatters DP is standing there... looking directly into the camera Hands on his hips.. and complains about the shotty workmanship of the fourth wall.

China’s DMG And Valiant Entertainment Partner to Expand Superhero Universe

[China’s DMG And Valiant Entertainment Partner to Expand Superhero Universe

The superhero universe just exploded. After setting up its character series Bloodshot at Sony and Shadowman and Archer & Arrow with The Mummy producer Sean Daniel a couple of years ago, Valiant Entertainment – the indie publisher of comic books and graphic novels with a library of more than 2,000 characters — has just partnered with Beijing-based studio and production company DMG Entertainment to develop their properties for motion pictures, television, publishing, and licensing.

The announcement was made via a Beijing press conference Sunday evening at the Kerry Centre in what they said was a deal where DMG has made “an eight-figure series C round of equity investment” in Valiant for international business development and “an additional nine-figure for film financing capital” to be used for production of film and television projects. They are looking to the stable of Valiant characters to create tentpole movies for distribution simultaneously in the U.S. and China.

“I think our companies fit very well together. It’s interesting because the two companies, well, we are in very different worlds and when we sat down to talk about how we could work together, it was very exciting, because we realized that we had complementary skill sets and we’re both global brands. So one and one, in this case, equals three.” Valiant CEO/CCO Dinesh Shamdasani told Deadline. “Our fan base are the fan boys. DMG has been there for 20 some years and they’ve developed a really strong brand. We were able to bring these two global brands together.”

The two companies began talking in 2013 and had already been working with film partners Sean Daniel and Neil Moritz. Valiant did what Shamdasani called “a big roadshow” over a three month time period with potential partners all over the globe before deciding on DMG.

We started doing our own branding and we knew the next level was movies and TV because we wanted to get the larger fan base aware and emotionally invested so we needed able to control to a certain extent our characters to stick to the core. The concept should remain the same and we wanted to protect that and protect the core. At the end of the day we knew it had to be DMG. They were enthusiastic and understood the potential of what we had. They basically built the Marvel brand in China. It was successful before that, but we were really impressed with what they did with it.”

The agreement may be the first of its kind between China and a leading indie publisher of comic books. They are currently beginning development on television projects. Having covered marketing for many years, the first thing that comes to mind is Merchandising. The merchandising alone with a deal like this could be worth millions if properly marketed. To that end, DMG and Valiant will work together for China-focused licensing partnerships for Valiant comic book heroes running the gamut of categories: publishing, animation, online gaming, toys, apparel, live events, theme parks, and more. The focus will be to introduce Valiant’s to the Asia-Pacific region. Valiant’s characters also include X-O Manowar and Harbinger.

Established in 1989 by a host of comics creators, including former Marvel Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter; Iron Man writer and artist Bob Layton; and writer and illustrator of Wolverine: Weapon X, Barry Windsor-Smith, the company is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary. The company re-established itself in 2005 as Valiant Entertainment.

It’s currently run by Chairman Peter Cuneo, CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani, COO & CFO Gavin Cuneo, President of Licensing, Promotions & Ad Sales Russell A. Brown, Publisher Fred Pierce and Vice Chairman Jason Kothari.

Global markets, like China, offer the greatest opportunities for monetization from merchandising, licensing, as well as revenues from film and television properties. Comic superheroes are the most lucrative and sought after IP for movie franchises, so taking a stake in the last independent massive comic universe is a strategic investment for DMG that will produce movies and TV that are both appealing and relevant to a global audience,” said DMG CEO Dan Mintz. “We are excited by the opportunity to bring these incredibly engaging characters and their stories to the big screen.” DMG Entertainment China is publicly traded on the Shenzhen stock exchange.

Valiant’s iconic stable of intellectual property and world class management team coupled with DMG’s unmatched skill with entertainment brand building in China make a formidable partnership,” Valiant Chairman Peter Cuneo said in a statement. “We will look forward to introducing some of the most popular superheroes of all time to the world’s fastest growing market across all media forms.”

“Audiences in China and the rest of the world are hungry for heroic stories that they can more easily relate to, and with the international box office accounting for the biggest piece of the total gross, the time is right for a truly international superhero franchise. DMG will bring its unique global perspective to the task of transforming the Valiant Universe into the first international comic-movie universe,” said DMG President Wu Bing in a statement.]
