i missed Andy Lau's Return of the Condor Hero ;)

Donnie Yen has made a lot of movies (like most HK stars), some of his newer movies are good(some really good) and other just plain bad, but he's putting up good productions these days and making his way up to the top, but not at the level of Jet Lee or Jacky

about acting, Jacky is the one that showing the most if not the best acting, Police Story, the baby kidnapping movie, stuff like that, you just won't see it coming from Jet Lee (his acting is like a chinese Keanu Reeves), and Bruce Lee is Bruce Lee

90's classics are also great, they dont make movies like that anymore

I disagree about Jet Li. If you watch Shaolin Temple, Once Upon a Time in China, and Fong Sai-yuk, you will see 3 very different types of characters all well played by Jet. On the other hand, Jackie Chan's characters in Shanghai Noon, Drunken Master, and Rush Hour are all largely similar.

The thing is, Jet doesn't do melodrama. All of his roles are low-key characters. When he does try to take on a more flamboyant role, like the Monkey King in Forgotten Kingdom, it comes off as somewhat awkward and weird.

My favorite Jackie Chan movie is "Police Story" where he is cast in a more serious role and I like it.

now that you brought that up, it did look awkward, like his acting in The Myth as well, Jacky probably know that his acting does not suit the charismatic/cool type, comedy is his card and he put it to good use in his production, avoiding being a dark/murky cool character, now Donny Yen could probably fit such role well

Jet Lee's best acting so far was probably the one in 'Warlords' and Andy put up a very good performance too, too bad they have to put T.Kaneshiro there, as the emo younger brother :D if not it would be a total macho man rage movie, the girls i went to cinema with were disgruntled and said the movie was terrible :D

the stunts in Police Story series (and Jacky's movies of that era) are stunning, action is good, story is good, one of his bests

Jackie is great at what he does but I'd like to see a brutal martial arts movie which he doesn't make meaning not comedic. I never saw one of his movies but saw clips. Jackie was fighting some guy and they were both doing it on their knees. That was spectacular.

When I was a kid they use to show this faux Bruce Lee named Bruce Li movies all the time. One of his movies was I think it was called Bruce Lee Lives. It was a fictional account of Bruce Lee when he was in San Francisco. For how cheesy those martial arts movies at the time were it had to be one of the best of them. It was basically Bruce fighting all the bullies against the Chinese community. There was a huge guy almost twice the height which was "Bruce Lee's" nemesis that would beat him up badly all the time. It was boxing vs. kung fu. The final battle was in a boxing ring where Bruce would get beat up by this guy again. So Bruce is nearly unconcious and his nemesis plays to the crowd holding Bruce up like a rag doll making fun of him, then the nemesis starts with the racial slurs. You can see the anger building up in Bruce's face and then explosion. The scene was done the best you can probaly film something like that. The crowd is stunned in absolute silence as Bruce's is wailing on this guy, no noise except for punching and his signature sounds. Had to be one of the most powerful fight scenes in a martial arts movie.

I hear Donnie Yen is in talks to appear in Expendables 2.

You know, speaking of The Myth, I loved the premise, but hated the ending. So much wasted potential in that movie. That gorgeous indian actress was absolutely irrelevant to the plot. Her entire purpose seemed to have been to have her skirt ripped off in one of the fight scenes.

And the Korean Princess? What the hell, after all that build-up, we get that lame-ass inconclusive ending?

I think he (Jackie) should make it longer, there seem not enough time to conclude the ending of The Myth. There are many 穿帮 scenes. However, I love the theme song by Han Hong and Sun Nan.

    writing is very important

have to admit Hollywood still got the top talents in many things, i've yet to see a big budget mainland/HK/Taiwan with solid writing, good actors yes, great cinematography yes, but you just don't get the damn that was good feel (Red Cliff? )

last HK movie that really take me off was Internal Affairs and Warlords

and the Myth, the battle scenes were just awful, panning and shaking camera, and cheap slow motion, if i remember that correctly :D

sorry but that song is awful :p i never liked Jacky's singing
