I like the clean but hulking look of the JH-7, similar look to me as the Jaguar and SOKO Orao.

That must be the reason. The Jaguar and Orao are very attractive aircraft and the JH-7 look like a steroid version of them.

I would like to see a version of the JH-7 utilizing the Lyulka Al-31 or Woshan WS-10

I really like this aircraft. I prefer simple design concepts over complicated ones, such as the Tornado and the Su-24

Tornado, Su-24 and F-111 as well, were made decades before JH-7 and they represent the best of available technology in their time. Tornado is the youngest between those three and it would be interesting to compare JH-7 with Tornado, considering that JH-7 is newer design.

Originally, the Chinese wished to incorporate variable wings on the Q-6, which was a sort of spiritual predecessor to the JH-7. However, the design was deemed too complex for the available technological knowhows at the time.
