Some screen shots of probe

This looks like a fixed probe---?

The aircraft looks modern---impressive with the probe---.

The J10’s intake hardpoints can carry 250kg at least, it should be perfectly feasible to reinforce the JF17 intake structure enough to take a similar hardpoints.

If they can add one to each side, that would be even better. Although being air superiority primarily, maybe the PAF don’t want to take the extra weight and performance hit from the structural reinforcement for both intakes and just opt to do one side.

Although I do wonder if the PAF should not instead look at the wide array of UCAVs on offer from China as a precision strike alternative to potentially risking having the JF17 go through a similar weight gain and agility performance hit as the F16s did when they went from air superiority to multirole, despite the continuing engine uprating.

Hi,

You are correct---the hard point should be under the nose---. As the pod be used on maybe 1/3rd of the aircraft---that would not effect the air to air combat.

Daily reported quoting a top Chinese radar researcher on Wednesday.

Hu Mingchun, head of the Nanjing Research Institute of Electronics Technology in Jiangsu province, said the KLJ-7A active phased array radar will give the JF-17 many advantages in an aerial combat."

Pardon ... even if I admire that type, its technical merits I absolutely hate such stupid headlines: :eek:

"World's most lethal Radar System ... KLJ-7A active phased array radar? ... come on, as if other latest and most modern radars are useless??

Like I always try to point so often: I do not want to derate the JF-17 and its systems but in order to be taken seriously one should avoid such BS and should stay realistic. Otherwise it is nothing more than an ill-informed piece of propaganda and I think here at SDF we should ovoid this.

Again, I do not want to down-rate its capabilities, but anyone to assume the KLJ-7A is better than the radar installed in the J-10C, J-16, J-20 or the most modern Western types cannot be from this earth. Therefore the term "World's most lethal Radar System" is simply more advertisement than fact.

Without caring what the report says, the photo is beautiful and good enough to be my desktop wallpaper.

I think possibly it meant the most lethal Radar system of its class (size)

But what would that even mean?

Lethality is a pretty weird metric to judge radar performance with, unless they were thinking of using the radar to zap birds or ground crew.

But I think far too much time and effort has already been spent talking about a rather silly article, so let’s all move on.
