JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

PAC goes all out in 2019,2020 and 2021 and completes 50 x JF17A/B Block III then keeps the line open for 2022 to keep the thousands of workers employed and retain skills then gets FC31 in ~2021-2022

New complex has been built at Kamra and the aviation complex has been established since 2007, there’s no way this was just for the JF17 programme alone

If PAF put in $500 million into the FC31 programme also PLAN weighs into J-31 this means SAC is in a very good position for their aircraft

Overall we keep going with JF17 until 5th generation arrives

The FC-31 design has all but been confirmed for the PLAN, if we go by recent statements from various insiders. Recent test flights of the FC-31 also suggest that another customer might possibly be evaluating it.

great, soon PAF will have 200 JF17A/B ... how many JF-17 series required by PAF? 250?

Originally 200 planned but PAF requested for additional 50 more due to huge leap in EW & Engine development from Chinese counterparts.

Further, as per unconfirmed rumors there will be further an additional procurement of 50 units due to recent development of JF-17Bs.

JF17A:

50 - BLK 1
50 - BLK 2
150 - BLK 3

JF17B (twin seat):

50 - BLK 2 - 3 (mix)

Nigeria’s proposed 2018 budget document confirms that the African nation will obtain the Chengdu Pakistan Aeronautical Complex JF-17 fighter.

The nation’s 2018 budget allocation document indicates that N13.1 billion ($36 million) will be earmarked as partial payment for three JF-17s. The payment will also cover support equipment and spares. This makes Nigeria the first buyer of the type to be officially named, although programme officials have long said there is strong interest for the type in the developing world.

At the Paris air show in June 2015, a Pakistani air force official told FlightGlobal that a “contract had been signed” with an Asian country.

The Asian country has yet to be officially named, but is believed to be Myanmar. Images on Chinese social media have shown a JF-17 in Myanmar air force markings. Powered by the Klimov RD-93 engine, the JF-17 is pitched as a low-cost fighter for developing world air forces. Following feedback from prospective customers, a two seat version was developed, which is now undergoing testing.

In addition to payments related to the three fighters, the Nigerian budget document earmarks funds for the acquisition of two AgustaWestland AW109 helicopters, as well as depot maintenance for two Dassault Alpha Jets and a Lockheed Martin C-130H.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the Nigerian air force operates a broad inventory of 120 aircraft from a range of Western and Eastern European suppliers.

The JF17 really need at least one, but preferably two intake mounted mini hardpoints for pods as a priority.

It is a lighter fighter with few enough hardpoints as it is without sacrificing some for pods.

Alternatively, maybe they could look to wire up the wingtip hardpoints to allow them to carry pods as well as missiles.

Could hang a pair of jammers like Flankers or a jammer + targeting pod combo for SEAF/DEAD.

Not sure if the wing is structurally rated for that much weight on the wingtips though.
