JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

Night time intercept so missile was used, otherwise I'm sure they would have loved to get some gunnery practice and save themselves some $$$.

This is where the lack of IRST and HMD is telling, as they should have been able to easily do a night time gun kill with that combo.

They could still have had a go as well with NVGs, but that would have been a bit more risky as the lighter NVGs won't have anything like the range and resolution as a dedicated IRST, so they would have had to get a lot closer to the target.

Any more details on if it was ground based radar, AWACS or the fighters themselves that detected the drone?

Azerbaijan shows interest in buying JF-17 Thunder

BAKU: Azerbaijan could be interested in purchasing Pakistani defence products, including the upgraded version of Pakistan’s JF-17 fighter aircraft. PM Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the country is expected to strengthen cooperation in the military and defence sectors of the two nations.

In November, a high-level delegation will come to Pakistan to attend the Defence-Expo scheduled be held in Karachi. The delegation will also visit defence production facilities in Pakistan to look into the possibility of buying defence-related products.

Pakistan has offered Azerbaijan several indigenously developed defence products, including the JF-17 fighter and Mushshaq trainer aircraft. At present, Pakistan is selling some conventional weaponry to the US, UK, Germany and some Far Eastern countries.

Other defence products offered include armoured and unarmoured vehicles, command and control systems, ammunition, body armour and personnel protection systems, and anti-aircraft defence systems.

Azerbaijan and Pakistan have already built a steady foundation for extensive cooperation in a number of different areas related to defence, security and trade. PM Nawaz, during his visit, discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in different areas.

Talking about his government’s economic policies, Premier Nawaz said its priority is to extend all possible facilities to the business community. He said his government has been in constant contact with the business community to address different issues and Pakistan’s exports have risen as a result.

Nigeria is also expected to place some orders for the JF-17 soon while Sri Lanka has also shown some interest. With China’s active help, the PAF is also pursuing an ongoing effort to build and induct about 150 JF-17 fighters.

Loved watching it. Magnificent shot :)

Nice LERX, but definitely "old school" aeros, which no doubt continue to work very well? If you look at the J-20 and the FC-31,,, its nice to see the "lifting body fuselage" has finally come into vogue in China, it will take a while for it to "trickle down" into the real world.

very neat shot, its an "unusual view", probably during a roll, as opposed to a hard pull, which would bring the aircraft into your flight path??

also note, there doesn't appear to be "any" control deflection what-so ever?? if that were "knife edge"? the rudder would be deflected to hold the nose up with "top-rudder"?

That's the old design. The future block III will be more akin to the twin seat JF-17B. Hopefully the block III will be more streamlined than the JF-17B. The cockpit of the JF-17B offers better 360 degree view than the old ones and the tail looks more like that of the J-10A. The nose section of the JF-17B seems to be larger than the older versions so they can fit a bigger AESA radar in it.

Reportedly an old image and - even if I found these reports at the PDF quite confusing - allegedly already from their transfer from Kamra to Chengdu.
