All these issues, including night-time precision strike capability of JF-17 has been discussed a few pages ago. What value does it add to keep bringing it up? JF-17s have been used with WMD-7 pods.

I think SIPRI have supposedly said that the PAF have bought WMD-7s, and there may be a few articles floating around that JF-17s have used them as well...

yet there isn't a picture anywhere showing JF-17 with one. the PAF isn't the Chinese Air Force either -- I think if JF-17 were actually integrated with WMD-7 then we would know it.

Hi,

About Sri Lanka having issues with the graft---.

A major weapons purchase should not be stopped just because of graft only. If the air force has done due diligence in picking the aircraft---then that aircraft is the need of the nation.

It takes years to test and decide on what you want---. Example Paf---stopped the purchase of Mirage 2000 in t he late 80's early 90's due to graft----since then---paf has fallen on its face and has not been able to recover that deficiency to date.

The paf and pakistan would have been stronger if the graft of 150 million was paid----.

You can always charge and prosecute the person involved later.

What the sri lankans have missed over here is that with that deal---they would have had a carte blanche with china---one deal leading to another---and that would give sri lanka more control and would make china eager to participate further.

Many a times---the GRAFT is for Black Operations---you need the money to do certain things---yet you cannot disclose those things---the money has to come from somewhere---so just because a news reporter dug deeper into things and found irregularity---does not mean that is what is happening.

Hi,

Whatever has been shown in the displays at air shows has been integrated into the JF17's and used .

This 3rd rate drama of the JF17 created by the paf not being able to do the job and F16 is the need of the hour has backfired on the paf and you will soon see that JF17 has all the capabilities needed.

Why you have not seen the WMD7 on the JF17---you have not seen JF17's with any missiles either----.

It is a rarity for paf fighter aircraft shown with weapons---just recently the pictures of the F16's surface with bvr missiles----and that was also due to a lots of pressure on the paf to show them in flight.

The JF17---all are BLK2's now---are fully equipped and operational with all the needed gizmos---let the speculators speculate.

There were some web posts not long ago saying Pakistan was in contact with Thales, seeking to buy the Damocles pod, mainly because WMD-7 still is immature.

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

—— Damocles can mark its target 45km away at 13700 meters high, WMD-7 is not as capable, especially stabilization wise.

Posts appear to be coming out from a single military writer, judge by yourself.

1. That Damocles thing was never serious.
2. The single writer is a respected ex-PAF senior officer, and is a credible poster on multiple forums.
3. Internet warriors are great at finding faults and not much else.

is this confirmed !?? So far I have not seen any operational pod and not even any JF-17 loaded with the pod.

Multiple credible posters have said so. However, pictures confirming its use have yet to emerge. For some reason PAF has not been forthcoming with information about actual weapons integration confirmation. This may yet continue for a while.

Operational JF-17s are based at Peshawar base which is close to tribal areas, and has seen multiple attack attempts by militants. F-16s, on the other hand, are based at Sargodha which is much farther away and immune to such attempts so far.

Beating drums about JF-17 use against militants is just asking for reaction to be focused where they are relatively vulnerable. The confirmation may come once militancy is subdued.

Can't wait to see JF-17B which is probably going to be a block II unit

It will act as a dual seater attacker and a lead in fighter trainer and cut down on issues related to operational conversion not that PAF has those issues

Main point of it will be to get more export orders

JF-17B should have been developed from the start not 10 years later

But the programme is going from strength to strength

Let's hope 2016 is going to be a another massive year like 2015 was

I just read over at the "Chinese Engine Development" Thread that WS-13E has achieved certification, and expected to be ready for mass production in about a year's time (or less hopefully!):

https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/chinese-engine-development.t252/page-364#post-397129

It would be really interesting if we finally begin to see FC-1 being offered for export. Maybe a few squadrons for PLAAF would not be too long a speculation?

Lastly, if WS-13E provides a significant improvement in thrust (~10%) & weight (~2-5%) over RD-93, what are the chances of it being incorporated in JF-17?

FC-1B / JF-17B prototype is also expected to be completed later this year and slated for induction in PAF next year. Is it mere coincidence that JF-17B & WS-13E have overlapping induction timing, with WS-13E being a bit ahead?

J-31 is also reportedly ready for testing with WS-13, according to a post on the J-31 thread.

Analysis, even speculation, would be most welcome!

Concerning the 16 JF-17s delivered/manufactured last year, does anyone know, what was the last serial delivered ... and if I'm not mistaken, the 229 is so far the most recent one this year ?

Or am I wrong ?
