Putin Pretty much said word for war what you have and I heard this same from others before.
Now the South Korean issue is at the heart of the matter. Both sides will if kept in this stalemate continue to claim the other. is Illegitimate.
back in the early 80's and 70's North Korea was the better positioned of the two halves but with the start of the modern era the North remained frozen well the South took off like a Rocket.
Today Militarily North Korea cannot in a conventional war stand against South Korea alone. It's Airforce is tiny, it's armor is outdated and it's infantry masses would be massacred and all it could do is level Seoul.
It's Nuclear program is targeting 3 fold.
1st To Hold the South and US to Ransom. ie to prevent regime change by outside parties.

2nd.To hold North Korea to Ransom.
Kim has purged the leadership almost as often as some people buy new shoes. His Father set in place military rule but the young Kim is no General. The Army has grown massive and as such is a threat to the Kim-dom. A Nuclear armed Korea may allow kim to sap power from the military and expand his own. This has however yet to happen and with the unknown status of Kim Han-sol and no indications of a Male heir Kim Jong Un is on rocky ground for a power base. One CNN interviewed Defector put it like this "I can tell you for sure, the North Korean regime will collapse within 10 years."
Well Saddam was killed long after the war Gaddafi was killed on the spot.

3 Money. Kim's father used Nuclear tech to extort, after a number of nuclear tests it's been indicated that the Iranians have been present on the ground. Remember years ago the Israelis learned of a Syrian Nuclear site after a train wreck in North Korea resulted in a massive blast and the aid planes starting to load lead coffins with Syrian citizens for return home.

Now why the missile tests? Kim is feeling the pressure in hopes the US will suddenly yield like the past 4 US Administrations did. He wants to hit a point where he can get money or aid or concessions that he can use to reinforce his power base.
That means getting the Japanese upset because they are the deal breaker southeast Asia. Like the Israelis in the Middle East, If the Japanese were angered enough to retaliate South Korea might jump ship. So the North Koreans have pointed missile tests there way. Because they know the the Single Allie of both the Japanese and South Koreans, The United States of America will try to field the Response in their place. Much like how the US started hunting Scuds after Saddam launched them at Israel in the Gulf war.

The China side is that China does not want a US Treaty Ally on any of it's borders, They would rather Maintain the disaster of the DPRK than allow that. The problem for China is that the Kim in charge is unstable more so than his Father or Grandfather. Now China seems to think they can use that to there advantage. However if this backfires it will backfire bigtime. As Kim ratchets up tensions even South Koreans more open to concessions are increasingly being dragged along.
A gallup poll from South Korea in August stated that 68% of South Koreans wanted the Return of Tactical Nuclear weapons to South Korea with 60% even wanting to develop their own bomb. Even without the Bomb this means that the current leadership is in a position where removal of THAAD is even less likely in fact based on the way things are going it could force the Blue house into a position where it needs to bring in more More missile defences More THAADS, and draw in More US forces to South Korea and Japan bringing more attention to the Chinese Coasts.

The US presence in the area insures that South Korea and Japan will not get nukes. That's pretty simple. They do not need them. If the US cannot get china to stop NK, or if the US will not, and particularly of the US goes isolationist, then both SK and Japan will develop their own.

They are capable of it...and they would have to do so to offset NK.

China can help keep things from proliferating further by insuring that N Korea steps back.

You point about Iran makes my point too. Of course Iran with nukes destabilizes the Mid East...but they are going to get them unless the US and the other large nations of the world get serious about stopping them.

If they do get them, you are apt to see more proliferation with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and perhaps others.

The best thing would be for China to step up and help stop NK...and that would be a HUGE political and PR win for them,.

It's really funny how arrogant Americans are without even knowing it.

...flame bait removed...

If my proposal sounds like arrogant fairy tale nonsense to you, then you know how the Chinese view your "logic."
No, your proposal sounds like the unadulterated, pure nonsense and flame bait that it is.

For it, you are receiving a warning. Such flame baiting and trolling is against SD rules.

Anymore like it, and you will receive a suspension.

After that...you will be permanently banned if you continue.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION

Here is something interesting that Japan National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology had announced recently.

Water based paint that absorbs 99.9% of elector-magnetic radiation.

It was announce in June and looks very interesting when used on stealth planes. It utilizes single layered carbon nano tubes(SGCNT). It's absorption levels are lower that silver based solution but as a covering material but it has a more robust resistance against cracking, peeling and/or oxidation which are common with Silver based material.

Did you see the F-2s flying with the F-35s and B-2s?

Pretty sweet.

SK and Japan will not risk jeopardizing their economic relationship with China if they want to develop nukes on their own. The US needs to stop thinking or trying to pressure China into getting North Korea to "step back" when the US and it's South Korean allies are doing the same by conducting military drills. The US can help by getting back to the 6 nations table talk or talk to NK directly. But sadly we're not see that. The US benefits and prefers that proliferation in the Korean peninsula continues because it can dictate to China and Russia in that region to abide to their own set of rules.

Now as far as the Middle East if the world can live with Israel having nukes, we can do the same with Iran.

IMO it's better for the US stop thinking that the entire world as a Cold War and that it needs to involve in everything to "stop communism" anywhere at all cost. Like I said before times has changed and so is the world. The NK issue is NOT the biggest problem in the world and here is an article to prove that.

Blah....blah....blah...how many innocent lives are lost because of 'Rocket Man' regime changing adventures? How many people died because of NK missile drills lately? This exaggeration of danger and the drama that goes with it is an act of desperation and pathetic diplomatic approach.

"There is no viable preventive-war option for North Korea unless one is willing to absorb civilian casualties in the hundreds of thousands or millions. The Trump administration can and should, however, communicate an unambiguous and certain promise that if North Korea were to attack any U.S. personnel, citizens, or allied nations—or if the administration discovers that North Korea was about to launch such an attack—then Kim’s forces will be met with a powerful and punitive strike out of all proportion to the attack. That is a credible and justifiable use of U.S. military power.

The objective must be to prevent war, secure the lives of American and allied citizens, and to keep sustained economic and diplomatic pressure on North Korea to eventually give up its nuclear weapons. Diplomatic engagement combined with a credible military deterrent has a reasonable chance of accomplishing that outcome. Launching a misnamed “preventive” strike will fail catastrophically."

The US has been doing exercises with its allies for decades and this has not harmed or threatened anyone.

Can you imagine what China, North Korea, or Russia would say and do f the South Koreans or the Japanese announced they had developed a nuclear weapon and then announced they were testing a ballistic missile that could carry it...and then testing it by firing it right over the top of either North Korea, China or Russia?

You know it would mean instant military reaction.

That is precisely what North Korea is doing and if people would be honest with themselves and simply ask how these nations would respond to south Korea or Japan doing the same to them I think then we could make progress in getting China to use its influence to stop North Korea.

The thing that has upset the apple cart and is threatening the status quo is precisely what North Korea is doing.

Quite frankly Japan and the US have been very, very hold back so far.

You know good and well that if the other countries did what N. Korea is doing, that there would already have been military power used to stop it.

That's the simple truth and anyone who is honest with themselves know it.
