Considering the total number of MKKs is 70+, how would that work out? I know there are cases where the inventory within one unit is mixed.

Anyways this seems a bit off-topic.

I know it's a bit off topic, but maybe You allow a short answer ... so far the remaining MKK units have been:

    - 9th Air Brigade
    - 54th Air Brigade
    - 85th Air Brigade with IMO a reduced regular composition of 18-20 down from a regular 24 aircraft fit = 54-60

    - 172nd Air Brigade ... IMO 8 aircraft are confirmed
    - 6th Air Brigade ... only a handful of aircraft, maybe 4-6 as trainers for the Su-35 = so at best 12-14 aircraft

In summary it fits quite nicely to the 74 aircraft I listed in my Orbat. So, with one Brigade (18-20) freeing their aircraft, at least the two remaining frontline units could get a fully complement of 24 aircraft each and still a few remain ..

    - 54th Air Brigade
    - 85th Air Brigade could now gain a regular 24 aircraft fit = 48

    - 172nd Air Brigade ... IMO 8
    - 6th Air Brigade ... could get 8 = 16 aircraft

Which would in summary correspond to 64 operational aircraft + 10 acting as spare.

But these are just my 2 Cents. :)

Very nicely sorted out, thank you. Just to clarify, I mentioned it may be a bit off-topic because I thought you or some other moderators might bring it up, not that I have problems to talk about Su-30MKK stats here .

Also it is interesting to see you are listing some planes as spares, whereas the Brigadization report claims Russian-made aircraft in PLAAF inventory are all front-line operational and never spares.

Those are not old plane at all, first received in 2000 and the MKK2 in 2004 ... about the same time as Indian SU-30MKI

I still disagree as to whether dogfighting agility matters in this day and age, but, guess what Blitzo, your article was influential.

Another five high-resolution images. One of them is a higher quality version of a previously share image...
