It's one of the examples of his predictions that I found and could actually follow up on. Judging from his reputation among other forumers, he probably has other accurate predictions under his belt.

No photo confirmations of the J-15's AESA, but Henri K. was able to extract a Chinese document that the radar had begun development in July of 2016.

and an equally honest response.

The indian air force has claimed that the J-20 is not undetectable.

What do you think of it? do you think that the india´s radars have already detected j-20 and determinated its "stealth"?
India claims a lot of things for posturing and reasurance but it doesn't mean they can effectively implement counter measures.

"Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa, while addressing the media at Halwara on Thursday, said that signals from the J-20s can be picked up easily by existing radar from several kilometers away against the currently held belief. Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa also said that the IAF is better equipped and prepared to tackle any threat from China."

They are saying in theory J-20 can be detected from a few km away, detection and interception are different. Stealth air craft can be detected but even at close range there is difficulty in an effective lock on, as reported in previous tests. J-20 can launch munitions from more than "several kilometres away". There is also mention of India desiring S-400 as a countermeasure in the article. China also has S-400 and SU-35, I'm sure it is using these platforms to conducting tests (Red vs Blue) and formulating countermeasures against India, while India doesn't have access to the high end platforms China has to conduct similar tests.

The good marshal said it could be detected at several kilometers away. Technically speaking he isn’t incorrect. I too am positive a J20 can also be detected at several kilometers away.
The issue however is the J20 likely would’ve launched his HARM at that site from several dozen kilometers away so those poor guys inside may never know for sure.

India has had zero opportunity to get the J20 on their radars, because J20s haven’t flown anywhere close to the Indian boarder with China.

With any worthwhile first hand new data to back it up, their claims add nothing new to the discussion. It’s not even like the Indians did any serious studies themselves, since the Air Marshal was just referencing open source material that have already been posted and debunked here numerous times.

I don’t even think the AM’s comments were even primarily about the J20.

It’s not secret India is having second thoughts about the PAKFA, and this talk about the IAF being able to ‘handle’ the PLAAF with existing forces seems like a shot aimed at the PAKFA deal; to either weaken opposition to backing out of the deal, or to use to leverage more concessions from the Russians with.

I can pick up the J-20 from several kilometers away using a fairly sophisticated piece of high tech gear known as a binocular.

Exactly, this is just an attempt by the Indian Air Chief to assure the gullible masses under this capabilities gap. It is his job to give the impression of security for his nation. The nature of Indian media is very sensational, one day China is an aggressive superpower capable of anything, the next China is a paper tiger no threat to India. The statement really holds little meaning but the audience are not people who have an interest in this field.

This is the same group of people (a subset of Indians) who claimed PAKFA is awesome and stealthy and everything anyone could ever dream of, just a few years ago. The same group who thinks Rafale is about as stealthy as other 5th gen fighters because of SPECTRA without even understanding the basics of the nature of electromagnetic radiation.

I think it's just a distraction away from their own military blunders and embarrassments like their ship falling over to the side in the dock, forgetting to close the submarine hatch, LCA delays and unsatisfactory performance (even self-admitted by the boys who brought us two T-90 failures on the same day), Arjun embarrassment delay and unsatisfactory performance... the list goes on and one can see patterns developing. Threats and propaganda from these people ought not be ignored, but rather explained for the otherwise gullible and naive. Once the lies are dispelled and replaced by reasoning and open mindedness, we can leave it alone. So it's good to see some response at least over here. I've read the many many pages of Indians bashing China and Chinese people in the most despicable way only a sour loser group of individuals can. Happily there are more intelligent people here. Let's start with this. If they want to claim J-20 can be detected even at "a few km" they should at least give the name of the system that is capable. I am not aware of ANY decent Indian radars that's even capable of targeting small fast targets like ballistic missile warheads or cruise missiles, let alone stealthy aircraft from any useful distance. But then again, it's always been their claim (and hope) that J-20 is not stealthy at all. What a pathetic thing to think. Chinese overwhelmingly praised and respected the superiority of the F-22 when it came out. This is why we have progress.
