Pardon, but I still don't get what it could say? And Henry still did not reply.
Is this that poem?

He has hinted so many times J20 is but an appetizer. The next big jet project will show up "soon" maybe after 2020.

It looks like a toy/small model, zoomed in and then taken a photo.

I don’t think the “poem” says anything about any future projects. It only describes how people had doubted the J-20 when it first came out and now it is the pride of the Chinese fighters programs.

I don’t think this piece can be called a poem. It’s just some well-wishes, more like something you see on a birthday card. Do we have any evidence that this “poem” was actually written by Yang Wei? It was written on a piece of notebook paper and could be by anyone.

I don't know anything more. Many people on cjdby and weibo think that 2035 refers to the next generation fighter, although you could say that's pretty obvious or meaningless.

Well it is hard to say what his intention is. Everyone has different interpretation. In my opinion what he said is loud and clear. He expects J-20 to retire around 2035, only less than 2 decades from now. J-20 is only the leading model of a family. 2035 retirement is only feasible if the next gen jet is fully operational and has enough quantities. So he hinted both the progress of the next jet, as well as a rough timeline. Personally I expect a 2025 first flight of the next/next gen jet (either 5++ or 6) from CAC.

A rough translation:
  • Title: to J-20 in 2035
  • When you were born, you were the splash of CAC. We (the designers) were happy. They (the fans, observers) were dubious. (this paragraph is referring to 2010/2011 time frame)
  • When you grow up, you were the highlight of Zhuhai. We were proud. They (the fans, observers) were excited. (this paragraph is referring to the 2016 Zhuhai debut)
  • Later, you were the defender of China's air space and sea. We felt responsibility. They (the other parties, i.e. the enemy) felt deterrence. (this should be 2017 - 2035)
  • Now, you are the legend of Eagle family. You were the lead role. They (everybody on our side, not including the enemy) are hopeful.

Retirement of and introduction of 6th gen fighter are two different things. Just by the timeline of 2035, it's easy to believe that China's 6th gen could come on board and J-20 may no longer be the spear-tip of China's air force but to retire J-20?? That means that by 2035, China will have an air-force of over a thousand fighters comprised entirely of 6th gens. I doubt that. Even F-35 is supposed to be in service with the USAF until 2070.
