How do you know there is no sensor fusion ? The plane must have some kind of sensor fusion maybe not up to par with the F-35 yet. But still sensor fusion is I believe a key part of the planes design. And its no secret how it works. The question is how well can China make it work.
Never see a report saying J-20 and T-50 have no proof.

And IMHO, the F-22 is not nearly as mighty as it's made out to be and Chinese engineers undoubtedly tailored J-20 to counter the Raptor's merits. A "money is no object" 90's design (that occasionally chokes out the pilot) does not mean that it will be superior to anything today. A "money is no object" 1995 computer is worth as much as a boat anchor compared to a baseline 2015 tablet. Not saying anything will be that drastic but your "J-20 and T-50 are beautiful birds that fly exceptionally well and are really stealthy except they definitely can't hold a candle to F-22" is a "compliment" not worth 2 cents to rub together. If these aircraft cannot defeat their rivals, they are worthless. Their performance can only be evaluated in direct comparison to their ability to complete their mission, which is to deter war by removing any perception other countries may have of achieving air superiority over China.

Whether they are/will be superior to F-22 is not a topic I like to discuss and I hate it whenever someone brings it up because it always results in people making claims about the unknown and it always comes with a "compliment" from brat. "Your kid is so fast and talented and agile! He's such a wonderful rising young gymnast! Such a powerful combination in an athlete! He's going to have such a brilliant future! Hey, maybe he'll take silver behind my kid at competition next month! Wouldn't that be awesome?" What f-ing a compliment LOL.

Hey, this is a forum, and its a free country Bub! believe whatever you want, and say most anything you like!

The F-22 is still the F-22, our opinions don't have "much effect" on the the laws of aerodynamics nor thermo dynamics... my compliments are real and genuine! I've been around this biz since long before you were in diapers?

I'm a pilot, and have a very firm grasp on the science in the air, everyday! Those laws haven't changed since God gave Moses those stone tablets! but hey, prolly 9/10s of the members of the Sino Defense Forum would likely agree with you, lets take a poll?

Well, that compliment may be real and genuine to you but in reality, it's not at all. That you think it is a compliment is a relic of your 1970-80's thinking where everyone fought for the silver behind the US. This is 2017, and today, China vies only for the gold, just as it does in supercomputing.

Yeah, defaulting on the 2 things that you usually do - 1. I'm old as hell, and 2. I'm a pilot so trust me, was never convincing from even the first time I read it. There's a reason engineers build top-of-the line jets, not pilots. The laws of aerodynamics may not have changed since the beginning of time, but our understanding of it has. I bet you progress has been made since your retirement (hence the appearance of jets evolving) so being old isn't an advantage for you to understand the most recent jets at all. If you brought the most brilliant scientist who designed the Sopwith Camel back to life, he probably couldn't make heads of tails of an F-22 or J-20 looking at it... and he's an actual engineer, not a pilot - an actual engineer who has been designing aircraft since before you were in diapers, brat.

In the end, I didn't make any unsupported claims and I asked everyone, including you to 1. stop making unsupported claims (even if through false compliments) and 2. refrain from discussing A vs. B, which is actually against the forum rules.

"5. Original objective for its avionics system is to match that on F-22, but later changed to match F-35 level. Application of early development (similar to F-22's avionics architecture) has been applied to some improved Gen 3 aircraft.

6. J-20's development has not been facing "major problem" so far. But it has some issues, mainly data fusion and how to better transfer it into real combat capability. It is not an engineering issues, youngs kids now know how to write code and make the functionalities happen. Rather, it is a problem from the user end. The air force needs plenty of time and exercises to figure out how to use the platform to its max potential, both in current and future environment. The evaluation process is time consuming, it could take even longer than the actual development of the aircraft itself. The American took more than a decade to figure out how to "use" the Gen 4 fighter in every circumstance, and I doubt they figure it out by now. So we will take at least same amount of time. (PS: hmm, interesting)"

If you wanted evidence...

Are those external fuel tanks? Is it just testing/demo or they need to manuever the J-20s to somewhere far away?

Yes. We've had pictures of J-20s with EFTs from months ago, this isn't a new thing. They're probably testing them, or ferrying them somewhere with the EFTs as the practical way of doing it.

As for why J-20 could use EFTs, well what EFTs do is they provide extra range/endurance for an aircraft, but on a stealth aircraft they obviously compromise stealth.

For J-20, some people have suggested J-20s will carry EFTs during combat operations to extend their range or endurance, but I think this is only half accurate.

(following is x-post from secretprojects):

I wouldn't feel comfortable having a stealth fighter fly beyond one's IADS defended borders with EFTs during war time. I think during a conflict, J-20s would not fly outside of China's borders with EFTs.

I believe the primary use of EFTs would be to support rapid redeployment from bases within China's borders during conflict, where they take off from one base (say in central or western China) loaded with EFTs and internally loaded with AAMs or other ordnance for their mission, and then as they near the theatre of operations (say, the airspace over the East China Sea beyond China's IADS borders) they would eject their EFTs+wet hardpoints and proceed with their mission in a clean configuration. After their mission, they would land at a base near their theatre of operations where support crew and logistics would have been ferried and/or pre-placed to support sustained operations from that airbase.
