Do they have smoke pods on these or something???
That really does not look like a vapor trail.

I understand how it works.
It's the scrolling motion of the cloud and the dispersal pattern that looks dubious to me

Your questions and many of your posts do not arise from curiosity nor are they a result of close examination; rather they are born out of your ignorant bias against China, with the intention of putting down anything Chinese without a shred of critical thinking - no different to trolling.

They do not deserve the responses others have given you.

do you? didn't look like it from your previous question? perhaps after googling?:p

In case you didn't know (which would be embarrassing to say the least), it's taught in high school at science under the combined gas law and is the same principle that cools your fridge and air conditioner.

I did briefly consider that when I typed he, but in my experience, we haven't witnessed any "chicks" flying the J-20, sorry??? Test flight does remain a predominantly male experience, while some girls might enjoy flight test, most would not??? so, apologies to your lovely lady, but as Rush Limbaugh laughingly jests, "I am the Mayor of Realville!"

I was worried about you until that last sentence, indeed our wives exert considerable persuasion over each of us, and to admit in this "testosterone deprived land?" the whole ejection seat system of the F-35 was redesigned, so that someone less than 136 pounds and likely female could safely eject from an F-35??? LOL absolutely ridiculous in the real world, but?? just shows the length to which "political correctness" has take over our formerly great nation.

With all due respect to your lovely wife, #1 she should join SDF, it would be lovely to have a lovely lady making her own contributions here, then she could try to keep us on the straight and narrow??? but with due respect, I have found it quite out of the ordinary for girls/women to take an interest in aviation in particular, but defense matters as a whole?? for instance there did seem to be 1 lady on SDF the other day, but in many years to my knowledge only a very few???

So thank her for her contribution, it could have been a chickie, but most often the flying details are carried out by the lads. The aviation industry, and military flying world is open to female applicants and does seek them out. So not that I don't think women are capable, but mainly that they lack interest, and often "aptitude"?? for instance you very seldom find women in a mechanical shop, and flying does require "aptitude" to truly excel??

I do have seven lovely and very capable daughters, several who do like to fly, all are somewhat interested?? but not one has expressed a motivation to seek her pilots license??? in spite of my allowing them to "fly" the airplane, they liked it, but didn't express the drive to "follow it up"??

To be honest, that post was a strategic move. I had been in the doghouse for the past couple days because of something stupid I said at a party a few days ago. And I was reading your post when my wife came home from work last night. And she happened to see your last sentence about a "he". And she gave me a nasty look.

At that point, I immediately and wisely realized that throwing you under the bus might save my behind. So I wrote that post. And it worked. Although my wife knows exactly why I wrote that post, she said she appreciated my efforts (basically making a fool of myself on an Internet forum) :p:D

Glad I could be of service! AFB has your back, and you have my sympathy! I too have "hoof in mouth disease"! one of the liberal lies is that your lady wants you to communicate your most intimate feelings. Keep that stuff to yourself or talk to your Lord,,,, really wifey just wants to know that you've got it handled, even though they want to tell you how bad it is??? don't try to fix it, and don't pretend its no big deal??? just listen?? when you try to "fix it"? lots of times it just gets worse!

That's why I talk to my bros on SDF.......

You can tell her I'm a Red-Neck Christian! I'm proud of it now, when I was 18 I couldn't stand Red Necks, now, I am a Red Neck!

Come on guys, really, Sam has his own opinions and prejudice? just as each of you do, in fact maybe the Brat is the only guy on here honest enough to try to see past my prejudice, and my own self interest??

Sam's question was since most of the pictures of Flankers and Raptor's pulling vapor are obviously at a little more speed and energy, was there a "smoke generator" on the J-20?? Lots of aircraft in test use tufts or smoke generators for that very purpose, in fact almost every nation uses "smoke generators" for there flight team demonstrations for that very purpose, I particularly like the tip generators showing the wing tip vortices??

I believe Frank Saunder's WWII Hawker Sea Fury was the first up close and personal aircraft I observed with tip generators??? fascinating, and all the old heads remember the brat pleading to see a little "blue smoke" on the J-20, typically blue smoke is used in wind tunnels in order to see flow patterns??

Now lets get this show back on topic! those vortices are quite fascinating, and the J-20 has a lot of vortices generators working overtime

He's has the stick pushed forward slightly to recover some airspeed, so he is really slow and low energy, but he is also pulling a little G, note the canards are slightly depressed to push the nose down slightly. It is obvious that the J-20 is still making lift, its also obvious the vortex off the canards are weak or non existant???

that's why the vapor clouds are unstable, nice to finally see the "real thing" in real life, lots better than the wind tunnel, lots more information, but in the "wild" it needs a little more analysis.
