Guys, is it true that thrust vectoring would cause the useful lifespan of the engine noozles to damage easily?

I don't have any real inside knowledge, Eng has reminded us that they are expensive, heavy, and felt the J-20 would NOT have them initially, and likely never. They do require much more maintenance, money etc, and while I was a huge fan of OVT, I have tempered my enthusiasm. It can be a game changer, it obviously helped the Indians against the UK in the recent Phoon VS Flanker WVR engagements, as in those "set-ups", it allows you to "slew or steer" your nose for a firing solution, if you miss?? it also "sets you up" as slow and the only place your nose can go is down? the bad guy knows that?

Yes, they do have a shorter lifespan overall, but they have been a game changer for the F-22, but as the J-20, the F-22 is also a very smart airplane.

At around 1:30 minutes of the video, you can see a Pakistani technician chatting with Chinese technician inside 611 lab probably talking about JF-17 new variant.:p

Did it say he was a Pakistani in the video? Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

If not, it could prove rash to assume someone's nationality purely based on appearance, the Han is only one of 56 ethnic groups that make up China. ;)

No... the video didn't say the guy was Pakistani in the video. But the group was chatting on top of the JF-17 cockpit area. He dressed differently from the other guys, and we know there are some Pakistani technicians working along with Chinese technicians for the JF-17 project in Chengdu.

Plus, there were two guys in the video that looks Pakistani to me, what are the chances of two South Asian looking guys on top of the JF-17 not Pakistani? I don't think Indians are allowed to be that close to the JF-17 inside 611 lab. :p

Since '2016' is taking a long time to come out do you guys think that there will be any major changes since eight months seems like an awful lot of time to roll out another prototype identical to '2015'.

Honestly that's a good - probably the 1000€ - question. To admit I agree with You and following the quick delivery of 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2015 I was expecting indeed more or less a simple follow on 2015+ .... as such it is indeed more than surprising. However wasn't there a report a few weeks ago about a mishap and a minor scratching the runway due to PIO ??? Maybe there was indeed a mishap that needs to be analysed and rectified ???

Yeah it was reported there was a minor incident earlier and it would probably be the most likely reason as to the long gap since '2015' was flown and I wonder if this might somewhat delay the J-20 program since from the looks of it we'll only probably going to see one new prototype fly this year compared to last year's remarkable flight of 4 prototypes.

Developing a correction for PIO might take time but why should it be relevant for building more aircraft? The solution is in tweaking the flight control software.

Yes, but maybe the new ones are simply not "allowed" to be tested until all tests were completed ?

... otherwise I have the dream - o.k.; after a few glasses too much of a wonderful French Red Wine yesterday - that there are already 4 new birds ready to be tested just prior to the Victory parade on 3. September .... :D
