seems unlikely CAC would increase production of j10 for a few years then cut it back down. alternative theory: hangars and blast deflector area is testing area for newly produced planes. new models need more testing and more quality assurance than models that have been run in. images may show that j10b programme has exited the inital production period where there are more problems to appear and quality levels have stabilized so less testing is needed.

at the same time, j20 is entering initial production so it will need such facilities more.
You could be right if the "many blast deflectors" is only meant for initial production run. I have no firm knowledge about that.

Could it mean that Chengdu is building a production facility for a larger production rate?

We have been holding our breath for at least the roll-out of 2102, which we expected as the last aircraft of the current "batch? but as you have noted anything is possible with the Chinese at this point. We may be the last to "know" given the current retreat into the shadows of the past?

I see. Thanks. I thought Chengdu is just an alias for 611

No, mother holding is a company called Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group ... which hold several different entities like the Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute (611 Institute), the Chengdu Airframe Plant (factory 132) and the Chengdu Engine Company.
