New 2013 Photo

...and then enhanced by me in the next post to this (good wall paper material):
To be blunt, that's a bad PS job. Certain details of the plane, even those not originally covered by the watermark, have been removed, and the method used to cover up the watermark left a a very noticeable repeating pattern over the edited area.

I have a stupid question. What are the holes along the center line of the fuselage for? I think the 200X planes don't have those (the ones on the backend of the fuselage nd only the 201X's have them??? I also just noticed a "hole" just in front of the cockpit in the pic above. I apologize for the amateurish language. I should pay more attention to the terminology.

I don't know what are the things that looked like two hexagons joined together, but the rhombus shaped "hole" just in front of the cockpit is probably aperture for the EODAS. I think it was actually discussed here before and others have pointed out other possible places.

Actually I wonder if the two larger black thing on the back centre of the plane between the two engines are the intake and exhaust for generators that start the engines (Jet fuel starter or auxiliary power unit). 2001 and 2002 have them on the bottom but perhaps due to the weapon bay being loaded from the bottom they decided it could be better to have those on the top?

You can see prototype 2001 with APU on the bottom side start its engines here:

Does anyone know where F-22's APU intake and exhaust is situated?

To be equally blunt...I never said I was an expert or professional graphic editor.

And besides...who said I used Photo Shop? I didn't. Too rich for my blood.

I can say, that outside of the area of the water mark, I touched nothing on the aircraft. The photo enhancement of the shading, contrast, saturation, shading, and sharpness may account for what you are describing though.

Anyhow...you can use it or not...like it or not...or say whatever you want about it.

I simply posted it.

But you have a great day.

Yeah, like no_name said, the hole in front of the cockpit is one of the apertures for J-20's 360 degree PDS (passive detection system). I'm not sure if it is correct to call it equivalent to F-35's EODAS given EODAS does have some very important additional functions to being a 360 degree PDS (namely projecting the 360 degree view onto the helmet), however the individual apertures are certainly similar to F-35's in placement.

I made that picture no_name posted a while ago, and based it on this picture showing F-35's EODAS apertures. If one googles for various angles of F-35, one can spot all the apertures quite clearly and in similar positions to J-20.

The best thing about this new picture is it shows J-20's top nose mounted PDS aperture very clearly, arguably the clearest we've seen so far. Now we just need a picture from the rear to see the aft facing aperture behind the cockpit...

I only said PS because it seemed to be used as colloquialism for an edited image around these forums.

And to be fair, the details removed could've been mistaken as part of the watermark. Here's a gif I made showing what I mean.

I will apologize, and emphasize that I didn't mean to offend. I will also admit I should've worded my post more politely.

Apology accepted.

No worries...like I say, I do not claim to be any kind of professional photographer, graphic editor, or artist by trade.
