Didn't know that Yj-12s are small enough to be fitted under J-15s.

Exactly my point ... therefore I think this model is more than off-scale and not very reliable.
Just take a look at a YJ-83K under a H-6G and a YJ-12 under the same bomber at roughly the same size it is larger by a factor of 1.46. Given a length of the YJ-83K of 5.14 m I come to an estimated length of about 7.52 m !

Wasn't there some rumor earlier in the year showing a Computer image of a J-15 carrying a YJ-12 on its centerline like this:

I've made a mistake ... corrected by totoro /CDF:

That measurement is incorrect as it uses length of boostered (ship launched) yj83 missile, instead of boosterless air launched version which is 5.14 m long.

It also clearly makes no sense when comparing length of h-6 to the length of yj-12, one easely gets measurements of 8 meters or less.

So a more appropriate guesstimate of yj-12 length, using the 1,46 multiplier is 7,5 meters.

And I have to thank him ... and to admit, right after I posted my "collage" we went to a birthday invitation and since then I'm thinking that the YJ-83K could simply NOT be 6.39m long ! 5,14 makes much more sense.

Even if however in the end the YJ-21 looks much larger than 7,5 m.

In that case, that CG of the J15 with YJ21 on the centreline is wrong.

J15 is 21m, so in that CG, the YJ21 would be 10m+ from a very basic eye measurement.

Scaling that down to 75%, and underwing carriage doesn't seem that impossible, although then the real question would be if a J15 can take off from a ski-jump with two YJ21s and still carry a useful fuel load.

Actually Deino,

Was taking a closer look at the pictures, and are you sure the entire YJ21 is captured in that picture?

Looks like the missile is still going beyond the end of the picture...

not 100% for sure but in mind of the very few images available showing to whole missile ... it was only the best I could assume. Additionally I'm almost sure that both aircraft are not taken from the same angle, so an additional error is surely included.
Anyway ... an attempt.

Cheers Deino, looks reasonable.

In that case, that puts further doubt on the CG, as either that's not a YJ21 it's depicting, or its using the ground launch version of the missile, with the additional boost stage (but seem to be missing the rear fins).
