You can see their serials on their nose which tells you they're not prototypes.

Of course it's possible, but it would make no sense to repaint prototypes to have serial numbers.

It was discussed here just a few days ago. start from page 69 of this thread.

Basically the jury is still out. There are a number of reasons why people still bring it up on all kinds of defence sites and forums, but mostly it's because they don't know better to actually stop and check for evidence of the claim and to use some logic to consider alternative reasons for the

Personally I feel like the idea of STOBAR carriers (operated by rivals to the US and western navies) having such a dramatic handicap on their naval aviation capability is just too tempting a prospect for many western military fans to ignore, especially when coupled with the aforementioned lack of photos and videos and constant repeating of the statement by all kinds of media as fact, resulting in a lack of overall critical thinking on the matter.

"Back of the envelope" calculations show that the weight is no problem.
