I saw that article and I'm a skeptic. I want to see this as pictured below from a J-15 on a ski ramp..trust me that Intruder is full of fuel;
So that Intruder weighs about...60,400 lbs or 27397kg..this bomb laden Intruder is fired off the pointy end at 3.45 of the video.
I just want to know the maximum take off capability of a J-15 on a ski ramp. No theories no guesses just the facts. I fully understand that the PLAN may not want anyone to know certain abilities of the Flying Shark.

I picked the Intruder because I knew it's fully loaded take off weight was nearly the same as the J-15. According to what I've read the J-15 can take off fully loaded at 27000kg.
One thing I know for sure an Intruder would not be able to take off that Ski Ramp with a full load without sinking like a stone.

Well Popeye it is still too early to get full load of operational J 15 in picture But It was observed to carry 2 X YJ 83 + 2 X PL 8
Assuming the weight of YJ 83=350kg; PL 8= 125kg the total weight is 950 kg or roughly 1 Ton
My guess 2 ton is the maximum load that is plenty of bomb already
The spec said 5 ton carry on load but who knows what is the actual load

May be difficult to land again with 5t of weapons, should be jettisoned before. But as a tanker or for a long range ferry flight with 9t internal and 5t external fuel would be a proof of maximum load.
And befor we have not seen such J-15 taking off from a ski jump carrier it is not proven.
Reportedly, MiG-29K can take off from Vikramaditya at MTOW which is 24.5 tons. That means max external load of about 5 tons. Vikramaditya's long takeoff run is of same length than Kuznetsov/Liaoning. Now that is of course different aircraft, but they do have comparable takeoff/landing speeds.
Its easy to see watching those SU-33s limp off the Admiral Kuze with a couple of AAMs, maybe something not to heavy on the center-line and very little else. Since those J-15s are nearly mirror image, with a slight weight reduction, and possibly a small thrust increase over the SU-33, you don't see them blowing off the Liaoning with a full load either!
Simple physics, lift and thrust have to overcome weight and drag?? and "everybody" plays by the same rules. "you can't fool Mother Nature!" HEH! HEH! HEH! love it, folks want to rewrite the laws of science in order to mold the facts to suit their sweet little stories??? it don't work that way??? do it???
