The green parts in the middle of body are not likely composites as there are many pieces connected with rivets. So I doubt about the parts of the same color on the wings as well.

Composite body panels are frequently secured using rivets. The Eurofighter is a prime example of that on the military side. On the civilian side, 787 uses lots of rivets (a.k.a. 'fasteners') to join body panels to titanium body frames.

Spotted this at the Dubai air show. J-10CE. AVIC guys, as usual, not keen to talk.

My guess is E stands for Export, no?

J-10 up for export now that WS-10 is matured enough for the platform. If Malaysia is including Gripen in its light fighter tender, why not include this? It ought to be cheaper and likely more capable (if J-10CE isn't watered down). More ability than a JF-17 and cheaper than a Gripen. Buy some political favours while you're at it.

ROC should buy it for their air force. They still fly around in ancient F-5Es, and are finding it increasingly difficult to acquire spare parts

I don’t think you know about the politics in Malaysia, JF17 although theoretically Chinese could be pass off as Pakistani made but hell would freeze over when Malaysia purchase a high profile piece of defence equipment like a J10CE.

Well they have included JF-17 which is almost entirely Chinese and will rely on critical Chinese components if they decide to buy it. They've also listed L-15 which is Chinese. Therefore why would they not include consideration for J-10 purely for internal political reasons if they've already included two Chinese planes in the list.

Without going off topic, I am originally from Malaysia and belief me it will be because it is politics.
As I said, the JF17 which is technically Chinese is still build in Pakistan with a fair amount of indigenisation and more importantly supported technically by the Pakistanis and that would be okay in the eyes of the local indigenous Malays.

I understand the element of politics but saying the J-10 won't be considered because it's a Chinese fighter while the JF-17 and L-15 are considered simply doesn't make sense. Perhaps it is for other reasons but not because the J-10 is Chinese. Let's not forget the L-15 is there on their own list. This debunks the JF-17 considered because it is semi-Pakistani.

Politics is all about perception.

JF-17 is Chinese, but it is also Pakistani and Russian.
L-15 is a lesser category of purchase that does not carry the same symbolic weight as the acquisition of a first-line combat aircraft.

I'm no expert on Malaysian culture or politics, but I don't see a problem with the idea that JF-17 or L-15 is plausible, but J-10 is not.
