No Air-to-Air refuelling probe on the J-10B TVC. Could they have removed that system to make space for more computing power? Test equipment?

The J-10B TVC testbed was one of the original J-10B prototype airframes, s/n 1034.

I am not sure if prototype 1034 ever had an air refuelling probe installed upon it to begin with.

Interesting.

In that case, it could be that the removal of the probe was related to the TVC tests, and if it was related I imagine it would be primarily related to aerodynamics.

But if it was removed before they intended 1034 to be the TVC testbed, then who knows.

I think it depends on tests ... this image is also from May/April 2013 and here it has none ...
