WTF o_O If this guy Kris Osborn use to be the correspondent for Entertainment Tonight then what is he doing writing about defense matters. Shouldn't he be writing about Hollywood gossips.

With the so called "free" press running rampant with no knowledge of the subject matter any body with the right connection can write about anything giving that their sources such as WikiLeaks and Wikipedia are "updated".:rolleyes:o_O

US to upgrade F-15's to deal with China's new J-10B/C's. No mention of the J-16. Is the USAF dishing SAC ? :D

F-15C modernisation with new AESA radar was planned long before J-10B was build.
First 18 F-15C based to Elmendorf with AESA APG-63(V) 2 was put in service almost 15 years ago ! First AESA radar with J/APG-1 used by F-2.
Now transfered to Kadena soon equiped with new APG-63(V) 3 and APG-82(V)1 for F-15E

so J-10B is still being produced? I thought PLAAF had moved on to J-10C

Why do You think so ??

If You see an operational B-52 or Tu-95 close to its base, does that mean it is still in production ??

No, You are correct. CAC is already at the J-10C-serial production and IMO they must be close to batch 3 already.

Just wondering if the new planes of China like the J-10B/C or the J-16 will come with some form of sensor fusion.

All aircraft can be said to come with some form of sensor fusion. Sensor fusion is one of those buzz words which doesn't exactly have an explicit measurable threshold that one can say "yep, this is where sensor fusion begins".

The way "sensor fusion" is used these days though, is generally to refer to the threshold first pioneered by 5th generation fighters and advanced 4+ generation fighters, though I think it is pretty debatable if such a broad sweep of aircraft's degree of "sensor fusion" is of any use as a threshold or metric.

For your question about J-10B/C and J-16 etc, yes it can be safely assumed and indeed it has been rumoured that certain aspects of 5th generation avionics are likely to be present in their avionics suite, including but not limited to greater fusion of sensors to decrease the pilot's workload and to provide greater situational awareness.

Whether it meets whatever "sensor fusion" marketing term that some defence companies like to push out is another matter, considering we'll never know and never be able to compare the true degree of sensor fusion between their respective products.
