That is not necessarily the case. I think the previous engine malfunctioning incident (when the Chinese pilot glided the J-10 to safety) was using the WS-10 engine instead of the AL-31FN. The WS-10 failure also resulted in a J-11 crash a while back.

That conflicts with the news we've been hearing that the WS-10 isn't even implemented in the J-10 right now though.

Stop yr BS!

The CCTV reported case is definitely a J-10 using AL-31F.

If the news is really true... then it would lead us to think that the Chinese is better off with their own engine... AL-31F is seriously not very stable even as of now... but then again, it can be because the Chinese had been using more AL-31F and so we are seeing more failure, while WS-10 or WS-10A was relatively new, and so we have yet to see any failure or very little failure. As the number stepped up, we can bound to see problems or failure figures stepping up too.

They are saying on Chinese forums that another J-10 crashed today, possibly due to engine problem again. The number been thrown around is that there have been at least 4 engine stalls so far.

hmmm i'm not getting any news abt this from the forum i go to, maybe not yet

The report seems to indicate that the plane crashed in question was a Russian made Su-30 (not J-11 or J-10) and apparently only one of the pilots safely ejected. The author said that the report is a "rumor" only but a plane crash definitely occured. We can only guess whether it is a J-10 or a SU-30 at this point.

this must be the same crash I talked about. According to the person who revealed the news, the pilot was dead. Thus far, no pilot on J-10 crashes have died from plane crashes. Showing improvement in ejection seating of J-10s.

AL-31FN is still the prime suspect in this incident.
J-10s suffered several in-flight shutdowns due to engine lubrication system malfunction, since there's a design flaw with its oil unit:mad:
