Combatants Cut Off: Syrian Army Destroys Daesh Lifelines in Aleppo Province

08:47 02.02.2016(updated 10:14 02.02.2016)

Two key supply lines of the terrorist group Daesh have reportedly been cut by the Syrian Army in the northern area of Aleppo Province.

The Syrian Army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have managed to cut two main supply lines of

Province, a region which borders Turkey, media reports said.

"The Masqan-Aleppo and Haras-Al-Bab roads used by the ISIL terrorists as two main supplying routes were cut in the attacks of the Syrian fighter jets and the army's artillery units," the Iranian news agency

quoted army sources as saying.

The developments came after the Syrian troops and the NDF reportedly won back another strategic village in Aleppo Province's northern area, killing scores of militants.

In s separate development late last week, the Syrian Army continued its offensive against Daesh terrorists in the eastern parts of Aleppo, seizing full control over another strategic height after heavy fighting with the militants.

Also, the army managed to gain control over a spate of Daesh checkpoints based near Aleppo's thermal power plant.

Earlier, the Syrian forces clashed with militant groups in three neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo, in fighting that left dozens of militants killed and wounded.

The sources said that the army attacked "the militant groups' strongholds in the neighborhoods of al-Sheikh Saeed, al-Salihin and Bani Zeid."

Adding to the Syrian Army's anti-terror effort is Russia's ongoing air campaign, which was launched on September 30, when more than fifty Russian warplanes, including Su-24M, Su-25 and Su-34 jets, commenced precision airstrikes on Daesh and Al-Nusra Front targets in Syria at the behest of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

This accords with your predictions, Jura?

LOL delft even if you probably didn't mean "my personal predictions" I want to make clear I don't post my own predictions here: I'm just an observer since Donbass 2014 where my predictions patently failed (hope SampanViking reads this :)
as for the article you posted, I didn't understand it, as only recently I took a closer look at "Northern Aleppo" area (I was unable to identify neither "Masqan" nor "Haras" from

I too couldn't find Masqan nor Haras, likely because of the large number of translations involved. You will have looked at the Russian transcription, one less than for me, but so it was still too difficult.

I hadn't looked at the wiki but was aware of Dabiq as the Muslim counterpart to Armageddon.

thanks for letting me know, I didn't know if I just wasn't sloppy :)

if this info was significant, it should pop up elsewhere soon ... but to me it sounded like things-are-going-great-type-of-article

I hadn't looked at the wiki but was aware of Dabiq as the Muslim counterpart to Armageddon.

recently I finally did some reading about ISIL and, now I better use quotes,
“What’s striking about them is not just the literalism, but also the seriousness with which they read these texts,” Haykel said. “There is an assiduous, obsessive seriousness that Muslims don’t normally have.”
and
The Islamic State has attached great importance to the Syrian city of Dabiq, near Aleppo.
and
Now that it has taken Dabiq, the Islamic State awaits the arrival of an enemy army there, whose defeat will initiate the countdown to the apocalypse.
and
After its battle in Dabiq ... An anti-Messiah, known in Muslim apocalyptic literature as Dajjal, will come from the Khorasan region of eastern Iran and kill a vast number of the caliphate’s fighters, until just 5,000 remain, cornered in Jerusalem. Just as Dajjal prepares to finish them off, Jesus—the second-most-revered prophet in Islam—will return to Earth, spear Dajjal, and lead the Muslims to victory.
so now apparently they believe
“There are but a few days left.”

Nice to see this fighter but mainly propaganda 4 with 4 Su-30SM remains a few number, a big flight.

The Russian jets could be used for escorting Su-24s, Su-30
LOL here :)

Russian Su-35s in Syria lead to Turkish tense’

In what could be at best another propaganda foil or at worst a change in strategy in Syria, Russia reportedly has send its most advanced air defense aircraft to Syria. Four Su-35 Flanker-E fighter jets are said to have joined Russian Air Force aircraft in Syria. It would mark the first time Russia sends this jet abroad.
Independent confirmation of the four fighter jets’ actual arrival is still needed. Pictures of the Flankers flying at altitude appeared on social media on Sunday, as the jets were said to be making their way to Syria. In truth, the pictures could have been snapped anytime.
If the jets actually are in Syria, it means Russia is beefing up it air-to-air capability in the area. The apparent move comes just as Turkey warned Moscow about another Russian jet moving into Turkish airspace while operating over Syria. In November, a Turkish F-16

for that reason. Relations between Ankara and Moscow have since been tense.
Fighter escort
By sending the Flankers, Russia is not seeking to improve relations any time soon. Things will probably get even more tense. The Russian jets could be used for escorting Su-24s, Su-30 and Su-34s during bombing missions. Those types are already operating in Syria.
Operational test
However, the move could also just mean an operational test for the Russians. The wargames over Syria have given the Russian Air Force the opportunity to test its latest equipment and newest tactics. The Su-35 so far was not part of the weapons arsenal used. In fact, the type has never been used in anger before.
The Su-35 Flanker-E is Russia’s most advanced derivative of the Flanker.

I see (and retyping quickly) "ISF CONTINUE TO CLEAR RAMADI

(ISF) moving into the eastern suburbs of Ramadi as ISF
reported clearing the city center of ISIL forces."

is this text outdated, or the victory, which I recall was predicted to happen in 72 hours, somehow hasn't come yet?
