Hell, the NODs might also be aviation gear and came with the helmet.
Aviation like Helicopter pilots need a wider range of view then regular infantry as a rule. The Quad sets sported by US Special operations started out as sets used for helicopter pilots, they were then modified for SF units.

Interesting, I was almost going to lean on private supplier company promo shots until I saw the construction gloves, which is typically PLA cost saving.

Note that in the last picture with the female specops trooper, you can see an actual combat glove in the back of the shot. So it seems like they have decent combat gloves, but are using cheap construction ones for training to save on the wear and tear during training (harnesses and other equipment suggest they were going for a climb or absailing).

It’s interesting to see a female, so either this is a mixed sex unit, or there are all female specops teams.

Having a woman on the team would make sense if they were operating in Xinjiang or the boarder regions, as local customs and religions might make it difficult for the team when dealing with local women if it was a men only team.

Helmet as a mount for Night vision just visible under the goggles Style is either a clone of or is a Ops Core FAST. They seem to be wearing climbers harnesses but no mountain or building in sight. I am guessing the mustard around there knees is some form of mesh to let air circulate in heat.

These boots are still leather. They are lower cut but of a Rough out leather. Rough out leather simply means the reverse of how one makes "Traditional" Combat boots. Normally the Soft leather of the boot is used outside to be polished. on the inside of the shoe though you will find the Rough side which is typically less soft and more uneven This rough side though is more forgiving in terms of abuse like cracks and scuffs.

Point of interest here The Optic on this QBZ95-1 is a Holosun HE510C. Why of interest? the Maker atleast used to build them in the PRC, the Unit in question is fairly cheap @ $300 US a comparable EOTech or Trijicon will normally run 1.5 times that..

I suspect the "construction gloves" could be for rappelling down, say from a helicopter.
We can see how they have harnesses around their waists.

That said I'm still not fully convinced that this an actual PLA equipped unit and not done for a TV show. I'd be interested to see the original source.

It's not like we haven't seen similarly-equipped troops in the past.

Only 4 mags per soldier? Or am I talking about at least 7?
The Classic AK chest Rig normally loads about 3 magazines across the chest. These are your "Ready magazines" A soldier could carry more by other means like in packs or vehicles.
Some AK Chest Rigs can go to 4 magazines but three tends to be the number this is because of the Curve of an AK magazine and how it sits on the Average chest
Now you may say "but We are talking about QBZ95...."
And you are correct but the magazine has a similar shape.
This comes from the Taper of the Ammunition stack modern Ammo on top of each other and the ammo has a Narrow nose and broad rear. Conventional ammunition as a natural curve where non conventional like Cased Telescoped or Case less tends to be flat. Also this may come from the Farmiliarity of operation for the PLA with Rock back loading of there magazines with Weapons like the Type 56 and SKS rifles that used AK magazines. This was retained with the Type 81 on to the QBZ95 and QBZ03

AR 15 Magazines tend to have a Flatter curve and take up just a little less space this is mostly because of a hicup in the way the AR 15 magazine was originally designed. Stoner Started with 20 round magazines for the AR10 in 7.62x51mm this could be done in a flat profile with the base ending in a incline and worked as it meant that the magazine could drop straight down out of the Magazine well. Then Stoner scaled that weapon down into the AR15 and the AR15 magazine was just the same magazine simplified and scaled down. After the AR15 became the M16 and the Rifle of the American Military these magazines with slight changes remained in service as the norm but late in Veitnam Colt and the Army were looking at the 30 round type to match those found in the AK47. but because of the Way the Magazine well was established and the Taper of the 5.56x45mm they had to compromise resulting in a shape more like the letter J where it starts straight and then suddenly curves. this has allowed a few more magazines in NATO chest rigs but the STANAG magazine has the draw back on reliability.

true, but this looks a bit more comprehensive even to past troops, and it seems to be a new camo scheme too. I mean, they definitely aren't PAP in this case, but I just wonder if they are legitimate PLA because they look so much better equipped, especially the ear/headsets.

That said, the camo scheme does look very similar to what the supposed new Type 17 camo scheme kind of resembles, so who knows... I just wish we had some more legitimate and detailed information about Type 17.
