New Engines for AMCA by 2020
getasset.aspx

Speaking on sidelines of Aero India 2015, DRDO officials confirmed to idrw.org that new 110 kN thrust class engines since will based on Proven and established engine technology and not to be developed by Scratch will be ready by 2020 for Production.

While DRDO will be engaging with Rolls-Royce, GE, Snecma who are major jet engine makers on Joint development of new engines which will require two crucial requirements one being engines needs to generate 110kN class of thrust and equipped with 2D Thrust vectoring nozzles (TVC) along with ability to Super-cruise at Mach 1.2.

General Electric is clearly favorite jet engine manufacturer who will be awarded the Contract to develop new engines, New engine will be based on F-414 engines since GE’s F-414 engines which will power Tejas MK-2 has growth potential of 20 % and GE officials have agreed to fine tune engine to fulfill AMCA requirements which according to DRDO officials needs to be developed in 3 years after awarding Contract and GE in-House Research & Development have designed many of the components needed for uprated engine and have great chance of completing project in required time frame set by DRDO.

While DRDO officials are saying first TD (Technology Demonstrator) of AMCA might fly with older Ge engines which currently powers LCA Tejas aircraft but can be upgraded to new engines once new engines enter production.

Rolls-Royce to offer Eurojet EJ200 engine to power India’s AMCA
Rolls-Royce is one of the three aero major which has been invited to submit a proposal for joint development of a new engine in the class of 110kN thrust to power India’s 5th-generation fighter jet have confirmed that they will be offering Eurojet EJ200 engine used on Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft developed by EuroJet Turbo GmbH which is a multi-national consortium of which Rolls-Royce is partner .

On sidelines of Aero India 2015, EuroJet Turbo Company officials had talks with DRDO and ADA officials who are developing AMCA, EuroJet officials also briefed Indian officials about EJ2x0 a new engine Variant which according to their In-house R&D can generate 30% more power compared to the original EJ200 with a reheated output of around 120 kN from current 90kN developed b

While it seems like General Electric which has supplied F404-GE-IN20 engines to power Tejas MK-1 and have won a contract to supply 99 F414-INS6 engines to power Tejas MK-2 will again be front runners to supply engines for AMCA Project, Eurojet Turbo which has recently reached a memorandum of understanding with Turkey on supply of a derivative of the EJ200 to be used in the Turkey “TFX ” program which is a twin-engine fifth-generation jet fighter to be developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries are also confident of their chances In India.

EuroJet Turbo also has developed and demonstrated 2D thrust vector control module which can be integrated into the engine as required in AMCA engine requirements

The Eurojet consortium is responsible for the management of production, support and export of the EJ200 engine system. Eurojet’s shareholders comprise Rolls-Royce (UK), MTU Aero Engines (Germany), ITP (Spain) and Avio Aero (Italy)

Vey nice pic.

Six Migs on deck with two helos.

Would like to see more aircraft on deck...also look forward to seeing one of the Kolkatas escorting her.

A very fine day today for India, and for those who never gave up Hope on the Vik, she is shaping up and appears to be approaching a more formidable CG accompanying her, the Akula on patrol beside her is no doubt a tribute to the Russian Engineering and Construction that made this possible, but I would remind all that it takes a will to do what needs to be done in order to defend your own nation, and India has powerfully expressed a firm intention of building a formidable sea-going Navy!

The same as before, 2015 sea trials, 2016 commission. The MoD was asked a question by other Parliament members about the Scorpene's original 2012 schedule to which Parrikar said the program was delayed. Nothing about new delays.

According to the article below, the Economic Times reported that the then Indian Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said last year that the vessel would be delivered by September 2016. In the current Parliament sitting the question was asked about the state of the Scorpene delivery date since the 2012 has come and gone. The fact that the present Defence Minister couldn't even affirm the date committed by his predecessor speaks about the uncertainty of the Sep 2016 date. The Defence Minister in my view has purposely avoided answering the question and in my view doesn't bode well on the Sep. 2016 delivery.

Some MPs are out of date when it comes to the military. Don't read too much into it.

someone pressed the SOS button?
after years of negotiating and not signing that deal, this is comical.if true

Want immediate delivery of 5th-gen fighter: India to Russia

Faced with a dwindling fleet of fighter jets, India is pressing its military ally Russia for immediate delivery of the fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA).

New Delhi has suggested to Moscow that the T-50 fighter jet (being built as an FGFA) can be supplied to the Indian Air Force (IAF) while the research to improve upon the aircraft can carry on simultaneously. The same formula of graded improvements was applied in the case of Sukhoi-30 MkI jets.

Top government sources told The Tribune that Russians have been insisting on a $ 11-billion R&D contract for the FGFA project. India, on its part, says since the plane is already flying, such a contract can be inked along with simultaneous deliveries of the plane to the IAF. Russia is yet to decide on India’s request.

Bulk deliveries of the T-50 jet for Russian forces will commence in 2016. India wants Russia to deliver 144 jets. Russian go-ahead will give the IAF necessary number of planes to phase out ageing MiG-21s and MiG-27s. In a war scenario with China, an aircraft such as the T-50 would be ideal for missions deep into Tibet. Beijing has a very good border infrastructure that poses threat to India.

Indications of a breakthrough in the deadlock over FFGA deal had come at the just-concluded Aero-India. Both sides separately acknowledged they were close to finalising the T-50 deal for the PAK-FA (Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation) programme being run by Russia.

IAF Chief Air Chief Marshall Arup Raha had last week said: “The future belongs to fifth-generation fighters. Pending issues with Russia will be resolved soon and we will have a compressed timeline for deliveries”.

From the Russian side, the state-owned United Aircraft Corporation's (UAC) president Yuri Slyusar had said: “The Russian and Indian parties have reached a consensus on the work share of each party”.

then comes this,
the best defence journalist as far astechnical matters are concerned and who has written the most accurate report on the status of the AMCA, Saurav Jha says this.
New glide path - some Su-50 MKI, then full blown FGFA, then Russkis adopt FGFA. Then improved FGFA for both India & Russia post 2028.

The matter is simple. Commence deliveries of the Su-50 to India concurrently with deliveries to the RuAF. And then send them to NE bases.

Border infra, new EW systems, Agni-V, K-4, early Su-50 deliveries. The grounds for detente with China are being put in place.
