i am sorry.the original content about zeppelin lz129 hindenburg posted at 2007.03.10.But i think aeros-d4/d8 walrus is better than hindenburg.Thus i changed this thread.

i have another sketch,based on Aeros company's Aeroscraft Aeros-D4/D8 walrus.
its detail is guessed because Aeros-D4/D8 walrus is not manufactured yet.i guess its detail by its relative aeroscraft Aeros-ML,which already truly exists.

48 T82F dual 20mm cannon.1200 rpm of single barrel.2400rpm of a dual turret.1625kg per turret.totally weight 78t.
18 Lawrence Livermore's 800kw sshcl solid state heat capacity laser.the output of sshcl prototype is 100kw,maybe enlarge its size by 2 times for 8 times heat capacity.totally might weight 144t.

The tactic will be based on an Airship resemble zeppelin lz 129 hindenburg with further installation of various types of arm and armor.It will be difficult to beat in the same stratosphere as an air superiority airship team .In addition to defense purpose,int would be useful in agressive situation.Low cost and high fire power,it would be very beneficial at all cost.
In memory of Russia hero Alexander Pokryshkin,this frigate will be honored by the hero glorious name.


First is its cost. From 1936-2006 ,the inflation rate of about 1475%. That is 36.875 million dollars.As hindenburg's original cost is $2.5 million in 1936.

Now it time to arm it. Because of its load of 112 tons, 4 times more than the load of B-52 today.It will be able to carry any form of aircraft weapon. However, because of the extra kevlar armor would be added. So arm design detail would be discussed later.

Kevlar fibers,strength 20.92 cN/dtex .Density1.667g/cm3 . About 16 dollars /lb.Pokryshkin amf will install 10045m'2, 2mm thick, weight 33 tons of kevlar armor.This armor would be placed in the front one-third section of the main blimp hull,to reduce the damage from missile fragments . The kevlar armor might cost about 1.163 million dollars.

Depend on its task and objective, it will be enforced by more armor, if tough opponents, such as the F-22 , F-35, or the regional air defense missiles, such as the MIM-104 Patriot. Its rear two-thirds section could also laid 1mm thick kevlar, such armor weight about 66 tons, price of such armor is about 2.34 million U.S. dollars.


The fire control system for use would mainly be Zaslon-M, Zaslon S-800,to engage up to 6 targets at 200km away . This equipment weights about 4 tons, costs about 10 million dollars.


Time to power it,equipment would be 2500 m'2,output 295kw,cost 325 million dollar.
weight 13t, 'SolarE' solar energy panels.This will power the Pokryshkin for all its need,without receiveing any extra supply.


All above cost 52t of payload .The Pokryshkin can still carry 60t of all sorts of equipment. But first of all, Pokryshkin amf will install 4 T82F 20mm twin machine cannon in the front.Each weight 1.6t.Each T82F has 2 machine cannon with 1200 rpm.Total 9600 rpm combined from the 4 T82F.The T82F will use OPTRONIC FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM to defend the Pokryshkin against incoming missile.4000 sets of chaff/flare mainly in the front section of its blimp hull,the chaff/flare weight about 3.5t.Totoal 10t for things above. If you do not need those things,remove them .

If necessary,The Pokryshkin will be added to 10000 -20000 chaff/flare,weight about 8.75t to 17.5t. To form a cloud of chaff/flare ,hope to jam those deadly missile such as MIM-104 patriot III.

Pylon machinery,4pilots,and other life-support equipment might cost about 8-10t.
Now You have 40t payload to arm your Pokryshkin.A large weapon section would be at its abdomen part of the main blimp hull.Which has 5000m'2 space.Cut this space into 200 8mx4m smaller pylon sections,to load Your weapon.

In order to prevent chain explosion once hit,some kevlar barrier between this small pylon section would be good against missile fragment.

It is your call to alter weapon menu,because it has 200 pylon along its downward blimp hull.

The total cost of a Pokryshkin Airborne Missile Frigate would be 60 million dollars.Not counting those missiles or bombs.The same price of 1 EF-2000.Can 1 EF-2000 defeat 1 Pokryshkin ?It's up to you.

To increase Pokryshkin's survivability.

1.Parachute & SRS airbag
Russia BMD-4 and China ZBD2000 are paratroopers' airborne infantry fighting vehicle,with 14 Parachute,they can jump from an aircraft.
Then,install the Parachute on the Hindenbur,260 Parachute can sustain a slighter crash.A Hindenbur length 245 m,diameter 41m.260 Parachute can be separate and install on the bone of main blimp hull.Each Parachute cost about 600 dollars,total
150 thousand dollars.

Like in car,install backup balloon,as SRS Supplement Restraint System Airbag,on the Hindenbur.When the main blimp hull is destroyed,lost 254t lift force,the Hindenbur begin to crash.

Deploy the 250 Parachute,Inflate the SRS airbag,when it crash on the ground,impact force might be separated.If lucky,everyone may survive.Now you may order them to evacuate.

Such less devastative emergency landing may occur ONLY when the Parachute and SRS airbag are not destroyed.

2.Stealth main blimp hull
PUE-2R ,Polyurethane Elastomer ,EM wave shielding & absorption. It can reduce the radar cross section of the Pokryshkin a little bit.Use acclivitous Carbon Graphite
hull on the blimp hull.With PUE-2R over it.As the idea of F-117,Lafayette.The Lafayette has weight 3700t.But its radar cross section is just as a 500t ship.
Thus reduce the Pokryshkin's rcs more little bit.As the F-22's rcs is 1/80 of F-15.

I guess Pokryshkin's 1320m'2 rcs can be reduced to 179m'2,if modified as Lafayette.
Perhaps 17m'2,if modified as F-22.But this is far more difficult than Lafayette's way.I don't think 1/80 rcs is possible for the Pokryshkin.

3.camouflage clothing
Although as large as Titanic. Pokryshkin is a pretty cool target.With less IR signature.If some camouflage,such has real straw, grass,tree branch,are mixed on the hull,order it to land in a mountain area.With mountains higher and larget than the
Pokryshkin.Enemy Su-34 flying over may consider it as a part of the mountain from 20km-30km away.While Tian-Gong-2 surface-to-air missile range 200km.

Of course,the Pokryshkin can't do this in a very plain field.

4.Kevlar helium gas room.
Seperate 254t helium lift force into 160 secondary gas room is safer than in 16 gas room.If necessary,use kevlar as the basic room hull.100t kevlar cost 3.52 million dollars.Cheaper than 1 T-80 tank.It will be far more safer than normal fiber.
If the Pokryshkin injured,it is safer to lose 1.6t lift force than 16t.

5.To better the fragility of the superstructure ,
Hyper Carbon,High Modulus Graphite,Titanium main structure.
Each material cost 65d/lb,42d/lb,3d/lb.Hyper Carbon is 4 times stronger than Ti,with 21 times more price.However,this material are all better than Aluminum main structure.100t cost 0.66 million,while 100t Hyper Carbon cost 14 million.Less than 1 Mig-29 20 million.

All I have to say is that this imaginary design carries far too many missles types. It would wreak havoc with logistics and no ship this size could carry enough of each. It is better to pick one air defence missle for point defence and another for closer in defence against missles.

i think common fighter-bomber like Su-33 Flanker might be helpful on logistics design.Because 1 Su-33 could carry both air-to-air and anti-ship weapon in 1 mission. The logistics computer on this airship might find help on
reference of Su-33 or other fighter-bomber.

Of course its Your airship.You can order it to load whatever weapon set You wish.
