Hornet (f/a-18a/ B/c/d) Thread

The legacy Hornet has been a US Navy and US Marine fleet defense, war at sea, air superiority, and grouind attack/support aircraft for many years. It will remain in US service for the next few years until replaced by the F-35C in US Navy service and the F-35B/C in US Marine service.

I thought we should have a thread here on SD regarding it.

Just for get an idea, according Marine Aviation Plan completely replaced in USMC for 2031, AV-8B before about 2025 and in USN about 2029/30 if the F-35 planned production is confirmed.

We will have by the end of the decade when first F-35C combat sqn will be operational normaly 2019 the pleasure of seeing alongside on a CVN legacy Hornets, Super Hornets, Growlers with him

Yes, lots of nations liked and bought the F-18 Hornet. Not as many as the F-16, but still, it has been widely exported as your figures show...even in operation now.

Almost 670 still in US service. almost 375 in foreign service to this day.

If anything goes as planned Hornets will fly in Finnish air force until 2025-2030.

Almost all delivered now 563 ordered some lost then about 550 with 5 new in order and USN want up to 36 , 3 Sqns coz F-35C is late.

I think the SuperHornet even has it's own threat.

Forbrin, do you know if the 563 you mention have been delivered by now? Also is that 5 more during 2016 and then still more later on?
