You don't need to be interested in politics to be know your identity.

Huawei experienced a surge of sales in China after being targeted by the US. Most of those who opted for Huawei instead of Apple or Samsung probably never thought of politics.

The problem with HK is not a disinterest in politics, it's the fact that a large segment of the population do not feel pride at being Chinese.

At last, a religious school principle has done the right thing and confiscated all the materials that these junior school girls were taking to supply the university students to help with their cause!

But the question got to be asked where in the world did these junior school students get their finance, materials, instructions and contacts?

Once this crap settles down I fully expect the police to launch investigations much like those launched against drug distribution networks. You grab the low-level foot soldiers who rat on the captains who rat on the lieutenants, etc. until you get the generals.

Government urged to be more proactive in combating violence
Hong Kong’s largest pro-Beijing party, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, says it met Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor this morning and urged her to adopt more measures to restore peace.

The party’s chairwoman, Starry Lee Wai-king, says she told Lam to create a “coordination centre for stopping violence”.

“People need to see that it was not just the police fighting violence. People need to see that the chief executive and top officials are helping,” Lee says. “Can police officers be deployed to protest hotspots, rather than asking them to respond after something has happened?”

Lee also says a lot of residents are willing to help remove roadblocks, but are worried about their personal safety. “The government should help them to do it safely, rather than relying on the police do so,” she says.

Something that has always sat weird with me about these riots is that the terrorists wear black t-shirts and you can see their arms are so skinny they look like the type to get shoved into lockers 3 times a week at school. If someone like that got in my face, I couldn't even take him seriously; I'd think some asshole frat was putting this nerd up to it (which is probably an extremely accurate analogy in this case). When they get violent in a group, it looks like an anime convention gone wild; my eyes see it but my head is still trying to wrap around what I'm looking at... I guess the best comparison would be how your brain feels if it were to see an 85 pound 12 year old Asian kid with glasses wearing a dew rag, XXL t-shirt, fake gold chains, tattoos covering both arms, come-up to you and spit slang and curses in your face.
