HJ-8 ATGM in Syria

Assads forces have taken Homs looks like the end of this war is in sight or a hope it is

Assad's forces did not "take it" because rebels agreed to leave after mutual agreement and prison exchange. If government forces were able to just conquer it why make deals?

Amazing HJ-8 shot.

Very interesting. Either something went really wrong with the launch but they managed to salvage the situation, or they deliberately lofted the missile's trajectory to either gain more range and/or to avoid the cluster of wires, masts and other obstacles between the firing position and the target which might have snagged the guide wire and ruined and direct shot.

If this was a deliberate shot, I wonder which nation's advisors might have taught the rebels that trick.

Wonder if the PLA might start playing around on their next HJ8 live fire tests after seeing this video. :p

Since the operator was guiding it I don't think there was any problems with missiles. That is first time I have ever seen someone to use traditional ATGM that way to avoid any objects in missiles flight path.

TBH the last few frames of that video show an intact tank IMO. It would have been more convincing if there were some blown hatches, the turret had come loose, fire was burning, or something, to indicate that the tank was disabled.

actually if you have been following the developments you can see that the rebels were surrounded and supply route was cut they had no reinforcements and sooner or later Assad would have taken the city no question about it

But this deal was mediated by the Iranians to open diplomatic channels between Assad and rebels since they almost never talk

Either rebels die in Homs or they do agreement and leave the latter happened which benefited both sides

Now they have broken the ice and have some sort of channel of communication helped by Iran it's not just missiles being fired we need to see the bigger picture of what's actually going on here
