From Huitong, update on H-6K:

Currently H-6K is in limited production and is thought to be a stop-gap measure until the new H-20 stealth bomber enters the service in the next century.

I don't think so, President Xi didn't have a helmet on.

Here is the actual link. Obviously the unit is still equipped with older H-6s, but they have one H-6K either prepared for Xi's visit, or for initial training before more are equipped. Given that they have CJ-10 on it, I say more are coming.

Looks like the cockpit has been modernised with digital panel displays.

Not exactly correct. If You look both at the versions and their serials You can note that this unit - actually the 36. Bomber Division - operates two versions:

H-6H operated by the 107th AR at Lintong (serials 40x7x - xx = 01-49) and the
H-6H/M operated by the 108th AR at Wugong (serials 40x7x - xx = 51-99)

Examples are H-6H with 40x7x-serial and xx within the 01 - 15 range



and H-6M with 40x7x-serials like the one aircraft serialled 40771 loaded with KD-20 ALCMs and ECM-pod. Also known is 40576 and 40770.



Regarding the H-6K shown, I think it's an aircraft with an 1xxxx-serial and as such most likely from the 8. Bomber Division.
